This module, we have started working on the concept of housing and living arrangements. Students are exploring vocabulary related to the topic and making connections with types of housing in Spanish speaking countries. The MFL department has aimed at ensuring that students are working on the same structure of lessons they would do in a live lesson: that is, recap from the previous lesson, introduction of vocabulary and practicing this vocabulary in a range of engaging activities. All of our students have access to challenge tasks (TIFs), please encourage your child to complete these if possible.

Our students are working on the concept of “Healthy living” and what it entails in terms of eating, exercise and daily habits. They are encouraged to use online resources to add to the vocabulary they need to learn, giving them some degree of ownership over their learning. Speaking is an important part of learning a language; therefore, students are encouraged to practice their speaking skills during Google Meets with their teacher, with family members or with friends, remotely.

In Spanish, our Year 9 students are already accessing a range of real-world materials, such as videos and texts, to consolidate previous topics on the concept of “Education” and the links between this concept and “Culture”. Students are encouraged to practice their speaking skills as much as possible at home and to recap different aspects related to this concept, including descriptions of teachers, facilities, opinions and comparisons, among others.
