During module 2, Leigh Academy Blackheath has been working hard preparing for the International Baccalaureate verification visit we will have later this year. Over the past two academic years, we have incorporated the IB philosophy into our everyday practice, as we firmly believe that students learn best when their curriculum is directly aligned with real life experiences.
An essential part of being an IB school is understanding our place in our local and global community and shaping caring, knowledgeable and inquisitive students, who are able to be reflective and understand their own and other’s identity and background. Therefore, the common thread that underpins our teaching and learning policy is conceptual understanding in a respectful, empathetic environment. At LAB, we ensure students know important facts, but are also able to apply these in a variety of contexts and situations, thus making connections across and between their subjects.
