Year 7 and Year 8

We are excited to announce that over the next few weeks Y7 and Y8 will be completing the Design Ventura competition. Organised by the Design Museum and in partnership with Deutsche Bank, this is a National Challenge that schools across the country are taking part in.

Students will each design and model a product intended to improve everyday life for a specific target audience or social, environmental or educational issue. This year the inspirational and award winning designer Yinka Ilori has set the brief, encouraging students to think about using colour, pattern and storytelling in their design.

This week we began the project with some designer research about the competition’s brief setter, Yinka Ilori.

Students have also been taking part in an online Paper forms workshop lead by Designer and Educator Haidée Drewr. For more information on this workshop, please see Paper Forms Workshop Video.

We have been overwhelmed by the fantastic and creative paper forms our LAB students have been working on while at home. We have attached a video of a small sample of some of these students.

Next week, the students will begin to sketch some of their own ideas with one of them hopefully ending up in the design museum shop as we send of LAB's entries. Watch this space!
