This term has been full of creativity. Year 2 started off with an exciting trip to Kent Life. The children enjoyed seeing and feeding the animals, learning about plants and exploring Elizabeth’s garden, whilst being set a challenge to find 15 corgis scattered around the park.
As part of our Inquiry this term, Year 2 have explored cars, vehicles and technology. We started off the term with an exciting car showroom, where children had the opportunity to explore the FORM and FUNCTION of different cars, while also discussing their likes, dislikes and different PERSPECTIVES. They then used their findings to design and create their own innovative, futuristic car to link to the transdisciplinary theme - How We Express Ourselves
For Design Technology Day, the children used recycled materials to create their innovative designs - they had the challenge of ensuring their wheels and axles could support the weight of their cars whilst ensuring their cars moved. They then used their English skills to create persuasive print and radio adverts to convince potential customers to purchase their cars, using technical vocabulary and thinking of innovative ideas as a unique selling point.
Year 2 have been preparing for their exciting transition to Year 3 at the Junior Site. During our PSHE lessons, children have been able to express their worries and their excitement for next year, whilst also having an exclusive tour of the site! They came back feeling positive and ready to take on the next chapter of their school lives.
Well done Year 2, we are very proud of you; best wishes for next year!
