This term we have continued to enjoy a range of after school clubs.
Reception and KS1 have developed their football, athletics and quicksticks skills in the sports clubs and have learnt ways to develop different breathing strategies and yoga poses. In gardening club, the children have enjoyed weeding and planting sunflowers and tomatoes in the garden area on the playground. They have watered them and look forward to seeing how much they have grown each week!
KS2 children have enjoyed learning the rules and competing in friendly games in rounders and football clubs. They have also been competing against themselves in the athletics club, trying to beat their own best scores. The children have been learning new songs and phrases in French and Spanish club and new recipes in cooking club, including couscous, cheesy garlic and parsley bread and mac and cheese!
Sporting Events
Dartford District Sports
On Wednesday 22nd June, we took 34 children to Dartford Park to compete against 12 other primary schools from Dartford in the Dartford District Sports competition.
The competition involved children competing in sprints, relay races, standing throw and standing long jump events. Especially well done to Faith (Y3) for getting the bronze medal for 60m sprint and Lewis (Y4) and Troy (Y6) who both won silver in the standing long jump!
The children supported each other throughout the competition and we were proud of every child who participated and how they represented DPA.
On Friday 1st July, eight children went to Bexley Cricket Club to take part in a cricket festival. They enjoyed four games of cricket as well as some quality coaching tips from some ex-England international cricket players.
More excitement came when the children realised how famous these legends of the game were. They soon dropped everything and ran to get as many autographs as they could.
