Short term exchange of pupils
Puerto Real, Spain, from the 16th to the 20th January 2023
Colegio La Salle-Buen Consejo (CLSBC) was the hosting school of the C4 mobility, III LECLIC Climate Change Conference, whose objective was to present and enlarge their research on the quality of life indicators of the second decade of the 21st century to mitigate climate change. A total of 45 students (25 ES, 8 PT, 6 IT and 6 GR) and 12 teachers (5 ES, 3 IT, 2PT, 2 GR) participated in five days of III LECLIC Conference plus two days of travel.
Teachers and the representative of CLSB were in charge of preparing the cultural, social and scientific activities, the lodging of the teachers and students. They took into consideration the remaining COVID19 restrictions in the school, official places and transport. Winter weather conditions were considered planning indoor and outdoor activities to fulfill the objectives of the short-term exchange program:
Official activities implemented were welcoming participants to the school by the headmistress and chief of studies, who informed about the school policy, health, safety and COVID19 rules in the school, the official photo, planning future teachers coordinations, uploading documents to Google Drive and Site, writing the documents of the summary of the meeting, the evaluation of the activity and signing official documents of assistance to the project and delivering the certificates of participation.
Concerning to STEAM activities on climate change, students and teachers participated in the presentation of the school, region and research done on Climate Change and the indicators of Quality of Life of each country, a workshop in the immersion in Virtual Reality activities on climate change, a LECLIC trail in Puerto Real to analyze how climate change affects Puerto Real city, a virtual reality activity using 360º photos, drones and videos to acknowledge the effect of climate change in the “Natural Park Las Canteras”, workshop on the theoretical principles and actions for garbage collection, a workshop on the theoretical principles and actions for reforestation, the creation of a Virtual Reality Game about Climate Change, the visit to the Hydrographic Institute of the Naval Army, preparing the summary of the work done during the week.
Teachers and students participated in cultural activities such as the visit to the city of Puerto Real and the city of Cadiz: the Cathedral and Tavira Tower. They also participated in the show of traditional flamenco dances organized jointly with the school families. Students participated in social activities, such as a free afternoon knowing each other or the farewell dinner.
The visit was integrated into the school life through the extension on the number of students from the school who participated in the meeting. A total of 25 Spanish students, ages 14 and 15 years old, acted as hostess of the foreign students: showing them the school infrastructures, entering in the classrooms, presenting other classmates.
