I LECLIC Climate Change Conference

The C2 short exchange of pupils was organized in Bagheria, IT, as the I LECLIC Climate Change with the aim of presenting the results of students’ research on the causes and consequences of climate change in their countries of origin and gain insights on the particularities of this situation in Sicily. 33 Students (6 ES, 13 IT, 6 GR and 8 PT) and 11 teachers (2 ES, 5 IT, 2 GR and 2 PT) participated in five days of exchange plus two days for traveling. Teachers of Scuola secondaria di Grado Ciro Scianna were in charge of preparing the activities, lodge and meals of those days, taking in account the COVID19 restrictions of the island and school and the weather alerts in the region. Four kind of activities were implemented:

Official activities: Welcoming participants to the school, information about school policy and health, safety and COVID19 rules in the school, congratulations to the students that designed the LOGO for the project, and the official photo. Coordination activities to the implementation of the project activity on the preparation of the second short-term exchange program, on the mobility project activities in the Twinspace, on the organization of the LECLIC Guide and LECLIC eTwinning and Website, revision of the work done by the students about their insights included in the TwinSpace, planning the future teachers online coordination meeting and writing the summary documents and preparing the official documentation of the meeting. Closing ceremony, final photos and delivery of certificates of attendance to the students. 

Students participated in eTwining preparing a page with their daily experiences and learning on Climate Change.

STEAM Indoor-International team-work activities: Opening activities: students were divided in five international teams and joined for the ice-breaking activities for the students participating in the project, presentation of each partner school and getting some insights about the climate change in each country for creating the LECLIC Guide. Closing activities: students were divided into international teams and joined in the same groups of the first day with the aim of discussing in international teams on the questions to be included in the survey about students and families lifestyle, participation in eTwinning for presenting the self-evaluation of the meeting, final Kahoot environmental survey about causes and consequences of climate change.

STEAM outdoor technical visits: A Climate seminar with the local institutions and  Simona Todaro from Palermo University in Palazzo Butera, environmental activities in the beach of Cefalú to understand the effect of climate change in the lichens of the coast trees, visit of the Acciuga Museum in Aspra to value the scientific, technological and mathematical art of the conservation of anchovies.

Cultural activities: Bagheria Tour and the visit of Villa Palagonia, Palermo Tour, sightseeing of the medieval city of Cefalú, Villa Catolica Tour and Visit to Renato Gattuso Museum.
