Hello Everyone,

We just are wrapping up week 2 of our 2020-21 school year and things are going incredibly well.  Again we thank our parents and students for their continued support of our practices and procedures that appear to be keeping our students safe.  Although I am aware of a few students who have been tested, all of those to this date have come back negative as our protocols are working just as they are planned.  We so appreciate our parents diligence in identify symptoms and keeping students home when in doubt.  This practice itself is the single most important thing we can do for the safety of all.

Our teachers are really settling in with their new virtual sections and haver reported great things happening.  Just like a brick and mortar building it is so important to have good attendance and work habits in this environment and so we applaud all of your efforts and want to encourage those who may be slipping a little to pick it up an make sure they are committed to the virtual compact that you all received and were asked to sign. Their is definitely increased commitment and responsibility that falls upon the family in a virtual environment and thus we also would encourage you to reach out to us if you need anything to make sure this is a successful experience.

Our sports teams are all of to a great start with swimming qualifying seven in their first week of competition, cross country with many great times and an individual win from Kaleb Simonson and teammates Sam Kistemann and Blaine Goklish also finishing in the top ten.  Kyra Simonson for the girls was our lone top 10 finisher.  Golf continues to grow a young and developing team as they near the end of their fall season which started near the beginning of August.  Our volleyball has secured three wins, two against Jackson and one against Cody that was a 5-set thriller which started out 0-2 for the Lady Tigers.  Volleyball returns to home on Saturday against Shoshone Our football team had a great performance in their jamboree last week in Pinedale, and will face Green River tonight to open their season.

Our LVHS Musical, Beauty and the Beast just finished their cast auditions and have been practicing to get that show ready for their performance the weekend of November 12th.  Our counseling department unveiled this week our new BIONIC program which stands for Believe It Or Not, I Care and has all kinds of features to help welcome new students, reach out to sick or hospitalized students, or students who are grieving and also has anti-bullying and other social-emotional skill development pieces.  The first part of this was welcoming our virtual students with individual care packages that were delivered to them this week and also freshmen spirit shirts for all of our new freshmen students.

Lander Valley High School was honored to be featured in the national educational publication, All Things PLC Magazine, which was recently released.  "The Lander Valley High School Story"  shares the details about our process to become a model Professional Learning Community and the ultimate success that is a result of the process we have went through in the past few years.  We realize that we still have a lot of work to do in this continual improvement process but also so proud of our progress and the work our students and staff have done to make these types of celebrations possible.

Our Guidance office has posted their newsletter which can be accessed at https://tb2cdn.schoolwebmasters.com/accnt_471857/site_471858/Documents/LVHS-Counseling-Newsletter-Fall-2020.pdf and they have also released our LVHS Profile 2019-20 which can be accessed here https://tb2cdn.schoolwebmasters.com/accnt_471857/site_471858/Documents/LVHS-Profile-2019-20.pdf We hope that you will take the tme to take a look at both of these documents with lots of information about our school.
