Congratulation to Junior Jack Sweeney who earned the individual 3A State Championship at 170 pounds this weekend at the Casper Event Center.  Sweeney earned four pins in the same number of matches on his way to a state championship.  Freshman Gabe Harris also earned a place on the state podium on Saturday with a sixth place medal at the 132 pound classification.  Special thanks to Coach Richard Atnip and his staff for the work that has led to these results.  Congratulations to the boys and girls Nordic Ski Team who both earned second place team trophies at their State event in Cody over the weekend.  The Nordic Ski team has had an incredible season and we are proud of their individual and team efforts that have led to two pieces of team hardware returning to Lander.  Special thanks to Coach Norm Cessna and his staff for his efforts on a great season and kudos to both coaching staffs for all the time spent away from home, especially on the weekends, to give these opportunities to our students.

Congratulations to our boys and girls basketball teams who both ended the regular season with wins on the road at Worland which were needed to capture the number one seed heading into the Regional Tournament this weekend in Lyman.  Action begins there on Thursday as they play for a chance to play in the state tournament the following weekend in Casper.

Our Speech and Debate team continues to do well as they prepare for their state match in a couple weeks.  In Riverton this week Kephas Olsson and Megan Haratyk earned 3rd in Public Forum while Megan also earned fifth in informative.

LVHS will host a Choir Concert on Monday this week at 7pm in the LVHS Auditorium, and we will also host our monthly PIE meeting on Tuesday at 12 in the LVHS Popo Agie Room.

Referral notices were sent home Thursday afternoon for all students who are in need of completing work in their classes.  Students with referrals will have Wednesday morning to complete the work with their teachers.  Students without any referrals will have an incentive day with groups heading to the Grand Theatre, or staying at LVHS to participate in open gym activities or a Mario Cart contest.   Students have until Wednesday morning to complete any missing work to make them eligible for the incentive day.  Normal classes resume on Wednesday after lunch and we will have a slightly modified schedule on Friday to balance the 1st, 3rd, and 5th blocks for the week.  We also remind parents as we approach the end of the quarter that we will host our Parent Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, March 10th (4-7pm) and Wednesday, March 11th (3:30-7pm) in the LVHS Commons.  We highly encourage you to come along with your student to ensure we are working together for the best interest of your student.

Just a reminder that next Friday, March 13th is now a school day, as it is the makeup day for our snow day in February.

Have a great week everyone
