VB, Swim head to State Tournament!

Post date: Nov 01, 2020 9:19:17 PM

Hello Tiger Fans, another exciting week is upon us with both our volleyball and girl's swim teams heading to their state competition this week.  Last Thursday our volleyball team earned their right to play at state by beating Powell in Worland.  Subsequent losses to Worland and Pinedale led to our girls taking the fourth seed out of the west and will play the top seeded Douglas Bearcats at 10am on Friday in the Casper Event Center.  Due to COVID, all 3A matches will happen on Friday beginning at 10AM and last matches looking  to start around 4pm that afternoon.  Our swim team is taking their 18 qualifiers to Laramie where they will have the preliminary rounds on Friday and the Wyoming High School Activities Association State Finals on Saturday.  Fans are welcome at the Casper Event Center, however in Laramie only those with tickets are allowed entry due to the limited number of spectators in the Laramie Aquatics Center.   Our football season came to an end on Friday night after an exciting 15-7 loss to the Powell Panthers in the 1st Round of the State Playoffs.  Congratulations to our team, especially our seniors who finished with a 6-3 overall record on the season.

This past Friday our counselors and student council helped to promote kindness and promote a positive a school culture by hosting our Mix-It-Up at Lunch Day.  Our Commons was full of good music provided by our Chrome Depot DJ's and activities to encourage students to breakout of their normal groups and have conversations with others.   Although LVHS has a great climate and culture, we recognize that this can always be improved and we are so proud of our students and counselors for continuing to find ways to ensure that all students feel welcomed and needed at LVHS!

We had 5 new positive COVID cases amongst students reported this past week and one staff positive.  This brings our overall student positives to 10 on the year and this is our first staff positive. Again, due to our protocols and procedures in place we have seen very issues with transmissions and contacts inside of the school and although we understand the need for continued social interaction outside of school, we strongly encourage good hygiene practices, physical distancing, and face coverings when distancing is not possible.  We are very grateful for the transparent communication from our students, staff, and families when close contacts or symptoms are recognized and continue to see this as the single most important factor in limiting the spread of COVID in our school.

Somehow it is already November and I hope that all of you remembered to set your clocks back or I guess we will see your students early tomorrow.  We will have our monthly PIE meeting here in the LVHS Gannett Room at 12pm on Tuesday.  This meeting is also available via Zoom with this invite:
