Great First Week

Post date: Aug 23, 2019 9:15:46 PM

Hello Tiger Family,

I just want to thank you all for a fabulous week.  It was obvious that our families had done their part as our students came ready and excited for a new school year.  We have more students then we have had for over a decade and continue to boast about the quality of students that make up our Tiger Pride!

Next week we will host our LVHS Open House on Tuesday, from 6-7:30.  Please feel free to drop in at any time during the event and visit any/all teachers.  This event is for you and thus we try to make it as flexible and as accommodating as possible.  We hope you have a chance to meet your students teachers as we begin another great school year.  Please note that in an earlier communication I mistakenly stated it was on a Monday, however the actual date is Tuesday, August 27th.

Our fall sports teams are in full practice mode as they prepare for their upcoming seasons.  All our teams will open competition next week, however all will be on the road.  Golf is in season, having already competed last week at the Cody/Powell Invite with Jaren Calkins winning the individual boys championship and his teammate Rachel Stoinski celebrating a championship on the girls side.  Results just came back today from Worland and our boys team placed 3 in the top 10 and won the Ed Cook Championship, and our girls placed 4 in the top 10, with Rachel Stoinski earning the top spot for the second consecutive week. Congrats to our golf team on a great start, we can't see where this momentum will take us!

On Monday, we are thrilled to have Rachel's Challenge return to our building!  Rachel Scott was a victim of the Columbine Tragedy and her family has been sharing her great message of kindness to schools across the globe since. "I HAVE THIS THEORY THAT IF ONE PERSON CAN GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SHOW COMPASSION, THEN IT WILL START A CHAIN REACTION OF THE SAME. PEOPLE WILL NEVER KNOW HOW FAR A LITTLE KINDNESS CAN GO." Rachel Scott.

This program will happen on Monday afternoon during our SRB from 2-3:30.  Any parents who would like to also hear this message are invited to attend.  As usual, please just check in with the office, I do not think you will be disappointed.

Monday is also picture day.  If you need a packet they are in the office, however you can also pay for and order pictures at: mylifetouch.com and use our picture day ID CG519424Y0.

Next week you will receive a letter in the mail explaining a student training we will be doing for our ALICE protocol we use for emergency situations.  This training will take place next  Friday, August 30 from 8am to 10am.  The letter will outline the specifics of the training as well as the background of the trainer.  All students are highly encourage to attend, however we do understand this can be an anxiety provoking situation and thus we will allow parents to opt their student out of the training. Once you have a chance to review the letter, please return it with your signature, ONLY if you would like your child to NOT participate.  In that instance you can make the decision to keep them home until 10, or if you send them to school we will have a room for them to use as a study hall.

Thanks again for the great week, I can't wait to share all of the great things happening at LVHS!  If you do not have a Twitter Account we would be happy to help you get one set up, if you do please follow us @Fremont1_LVHS.  If you choose not to go on twitter, please check our school website which has an live roll of our tweets on the left www.landerschools.org or to follow the tweets directly please go to https://twitter.com/Fremont1_LVHS

Have a great week Tigers!
