AP Tests continue this week, Concert on Thursday!

Post date: May 09, 2021 2:15:49 PM

Hello Everyone,

Congratulations to over 100 students who have already completed an Advanced Placement (AP) test through the college board. Last week students in our AP Calc AB and AP Calc BC, AP English Literature, AP U.S. History, and AP Chemistry classes all took their tests.  This week we will complete testing with tests in AP Spanish Language, AP English Language, AP Environmental Science, and for the first time at LVHS AP Psychology.  We celebrate each one of these because we understand the great rigor these courses are taught at and believe these classes extend our students at LVHS and ensure their college readiness.  Five years ago we gave just 20 tests, this year for the fourth straight year we will give a record number of tests....230 total!  For those still taking a test, just a reminder here is your schedule:

Congratulations to both of our track teams after hosting the Shane Brock where the girls claimed the championship and boys team finished 2nd.  Special congrats to Kaleb Simonson, Sam Kistemann, Ethan Kraft, and Blaine Goklish on their new school record time of 8:10.65 in the 3200 meter relay!  Lander will host the 3A West Regional Track meet this weekend as our athletes have one more chance to qualify for the state meet in Casper the following week.  Both our boys and girls soccer teams fell to Worland on Friday in a home conference match but will get back after it this week on the road in Mountain View and Lyman before their state tournament in Cheyenne.

On Monday we were excited to host college signing day as we celebrated where nearly 100 of our students would be going to college following their graduation from LVHS.  This is a new but important tradition in our LVHS programming and I am grateful for the work that our counselor, Mrs. Stanbury does to coordinate that effort.  Thanks to the parents who were able to join us for this celebration and for all of our underclassmen we can't wait to celebrate you in the years to come!

We are pleased to announce our band/choir and members of the orchestra will be performing together in a wonderful night of music this Thursday in the LVHS Auditorium.  We welcome our parents and guests to hear the incredible things our music programs at LVHS are doing, show begins at 7pm.

This is the official last week of classes for seniors as they finish coursework in preparation for graduation.  Although this Friday, May 14th is technically their last day of class they must return for their schedule checkout with Mrs. Stanbury on Monday or Tuesday the following week. Our teachers also began the process of referring SENIORS who they still need work/proficiencies from this past week.  Students will need to work directly with their teachers to resolve these issues and have Monday and Tuesday, May 17-18th to take care of this to be sure they are eligible to walk with their class on graduation day.  Here is the schedule for our busy week starting next Wednesday, May 19th.

SUN. MAY 23 Graduation -- Students must be here by 9am, Commencement begins promptly at 10am in Bill Bush Stadium.   Please remember that inclement weather will force us inside and currently if that were to happen current health codes would require us to limit each student to just six guests.  As it stands now, we are having our commencement outside and therefore there are no restrictions on number of guests but encourage parents to arrive early as seating in our stadium is limited, but both sides of the stadium will be open and available.  For family and friends who are not able to make the awards or graduation ceremony we will be livestreaming both events and although these are free, they will need to set up a free NFHS account prior to livestreaming.  Here are the links to those events:
