Skilled Trades Fair
In June 2023, we began a new annual event in partnership with KPR Teaching & Learning (OYAP).
On May 7, 2024 the Skilled Trades Fair will take place at Curve Lake First Nation Community Centre and Pow Wow Grounds.
Walking the Path
In collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Indigenous Policing Bureau and PVNCDSB, we are very excited to be offering Walking the Path Facilitator Training as a summer learning opportunity.
Walking the Path is a program that PVNCDSB has offered since 2014. Through 11 modules of 1-1.5 hours each, students and staff learn about the history of Indigenous peoples, and about cultural traditions and contributions. There are modules on self-esteem building, respect for self and others, and community-building.
Once trained, teachers, in collaboration with Indigenous community partners, will be expected to lead the program in the Junior and Intermediate classes within their own school. In addition, this learning will support integrating a First Nation, Métis and Inuit perspective into teaching across all curricular areas, and bring greater awareness and learning to the whole school as we collectively engage in the journey of Truth and Reconciliation.
This training opportunity is open to all teachers, including those who have been previously trained, as the program content has recently been updated. Priority will be given to Gr. 5 to 8 teachers. Given the leadership requirements of this position, successful applicants will be compensated as outlined below. We have 15 spots for KPR teachers.
