In RE this term, we are learning about how we can make the world a better place and why people might choose to do this. We are exploring different worldviews and religions to see the many ways this can be done. So far, we have looked at Judaism and learned about the phrase Tikkun Olam, which means “repair the world.” To help us think about this, we designed our own superheroes who could help achieve that goal. We also thought about the Golden Rule – treating others how you want to be treated – and how this can be used every day, whether you are religious or not. The children acted out freeze frames of situations where the Golden Rule was, or wasn’t, being followed, and then made their own “Golden Rule tokens” to share with family and friends. These included kindness tokens, helping hand tokens, smile tokens, and good morning tokens to show the ways we want to be treated and how we can treat others.
