In our first few art lessons this term, we have been exploring the work of Pierre-Yves Riveau, a surrealist artist known for his unusual and imaginative drawings. After learning about who he is and talking about how strange and bizarre his pieces look, the children practiced a range of pencil techniques, including hatching and cross-hatching, as well as creating textures such as grass, brick, and water. Once they had built up their skills, the next lesson focused on drawing a character that inspired Riveau, making sure to use the correct proportions and trying out different shading pencils to help bring their drawings to life.
