Today, we reenacted the story of the Good Samaritan. Here you can see the robbery, the injured person lying by the side of the road being ignored by passers-by and finally the Good Samaritan stopping to help.
Tuesday 28th November
This term we have been finding out why people celebrate sacred festivals. Today we compared Hanukkah and Christmas. We decided that:
Lights are important because Christians believe Jesus is the light of the world.
Lights are important because it reminds Jewish people that God is always with them just like he was with them as they rebuilt the temple.
A special light the three kings followed was the great star in the sky that led them to Jesus.
Oil for the Menorah burned for 8 days and nights when there was only enough for 1.
Then we made our own special lights.
16th January
This half term we are taking a look at all of the world's main religions and key aspects of their faiths. Today we've been looking at Judaism, learning about the Torah and decorating Mezuzahs (a special parchment Jewish people attach to their door frame).
