Arts Week – Inspired by Giacomo Balla and Futurism
During Arts Week, we explored the work of Italian artist Giacomo Balla, a key figure in the Futurism movement. Futurism focuses on speed, energy and movement ,all of which inspired our space-themed artwork.
We studied how Balla used shapes and bold lines to create a sense of motion. Using his style as inspiration, we designed our own planets using pastels, experimenting with colour blending and shading to create depth and energy in our work.
To show the movement of spacecraft, we used a technique called repeated printing. By printing the same image several times in different positions, we created the effect of rockets flying across space!
Everyone enjoyed using pastels to create vibrant, textured artwork, and the results were full of colour, creativity and movement. Our classroom became a gallery of futuristic, space-inspired masterpieces!
