Hatchling

When the eggs hatch, baby turtles, called hatchlings, crawl out of the sand.

They are very small and have to hurry to the water. If they are sea turtles, they race to the ocean. If another turtle, they have to find the pond or the river.

Hatchlings face many dangers like birds and crabs as they race to the water.

Once in the water, they start to swim and look for food.
