Juvenile

The young axolotl starts to grow bigger and stronger but still has its gills.  It grows back legs too.

Unlike most amphibians, it stays in the water all its life, it doesn't ever have to leave.  (But it can!)

It can even regrow lost body parts, like a leg or tail - just like magic!
