We are familiar with the way Chromebooks are used in class.
In KCIS, we use Chromebooks to facilitate learning in classes of different subjects.
The purpose of our project is to explore the challenges and raise awareness of media literacy in primary education. Following the steps of one of the most contributing media literacy education advocators in Taiwan - LAPSEE, we want to help promote media literacy among children, teachers, and our local communities. We aim to help people understand the importance of using media in a smart, safe, and respectful way and how they can pass this important skills to others.
To achieve this goal, we interviewed the co-founder of LAPSEE, an organization that creates fun teaching materials and activities to help kids learn about media literacy. Inspired by their work, we developed our own action plans, such as leading workshops, creating animations and short videos to raise awareness. We also worked with LAPSEE to spread the message and help kids understand why media literacy is so important.
Through our efforts, we want to give teachers a clearer idea of what media literacy means and how they can teach different media literacy topics to young learners. We also hope to encourage more people to become aware of the challenges young students faced in the digital world and equip them with the skills to navigate media responsibly.
