After watching the trailer of Director Liu’s documentary and learning about LAPSEE’s work, we decided to explore how they promote media literacy in elementary schools. We later found out that both LAPSEE and Director Liu were working with an NGO called the Media Literacy Promotion Base at NTNU. This group supports student-led media literacy projects and helps organize workshops.
We reached out to see if they could help set up a one-day workshop with LAPSEE and Director Liu. They were surprised but excited that elementary students were interested in media literacy. To support our CyberFair project, they kindly arranged funded workshops just for us.
To develop our own videos as a creative way to raise elementary students' awareness of media literacy, we once again sought help from the Media Literacy Promotion Base. After reviewing our action plan, they organized a video-making workshop suitable for us.
During the workshop, we learned how to write a script for a short video, transform the script into a film storyboard, and apply various camera movements to enhance storytelling. It was an entirely new and exciting experience!
Teachers from the Graduate Institute of Mass Communication at NTNU held a workshop on video production for us.
Some of us felt stressed about filming, especially since we only had two class periods to develop our storyline.
The NTNU teacher listened to our ideas for the short video script.
We decided to use a real-life example and adapt it into our story.
We started by jotting down our thoughts using a mind map.
We discussed our plans for the video.
In addition to writing the script, we also decided on filming locations and props.
While writing the script, the teacher provided us with suggestions.
We discussed the storyline and how it would unfold.
We were discussing the characters’ backgrounds and the plot.
