At Kang Chiao International School Taipei Campus, we believe that students learn best when they are challenged, supported, and inspired. Our international programs are designed to help students discover their passions, develop their strengths, and grow into thoughtful, confident, and globally minded individuals.
In Grades 7 to 10, students participate in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), which encourages them to ask questions, explore big ideas, and make connections across subjects. It is a time of curiosity, creativity, and discovery. The MYP lays the foundation for deeper learning in high school.
For Grades 11 and 12, students can choose the path that fits their goals.
Our US-based Regular High School Program offers a balanced education that prepares students for success in universities around the world.
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program, including AP Capstone, provides the opportunity to earn college credit while sharpening research, writing, and presentation skills.
The IB Diploma Programme (DP) offers a rigorous, internationally respected curriculum that challenges students to think critically, reflect deeply, and engage with real-world issues.
KCIS-Xiugang Campus is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer both the MYP and DP, and officially recognized by the College Board as an AP Capstone school. These accreditations and authorizations reflect our commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation in education.
Our curriculum is grounded in our schoolwide learner outcomes; we aim to cultivate Global Participants, Responsible Citizens, Active Achievers, Effective Communicators, and Thoughtful Leaders. Through service learning, international collaboration, and experiential programs like cycling around Taiwan or conducting university-level research, students develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive, in school, in life, and in the world beyond.
At Kang Chiao International School-Taipei Campus (KCIS), the primary goal of assessment is to support student learning. The KCIS community recognizes that assessment is a powerful tool for measuring how well a student is progressing in a course and for determining whether learning outcomes have been achieved. Assessment is an ongoing process based on multiple sources of evidence, designed to inform both teachers and students. It empowers students to take responsibility for their work and fosters their growth as lifelong learners.
Assessment at KCIS is categorized into three types:
Formative Assessment – Assessment for learning, which occurs continuously throughout each unit.
Summative Assessment – Assessment of learning, conducted at the end of each unit.
School-based Standardized Assessment – KCIS administers the NWEA MAP twice a year to assess English proficiency, guide student placement, and identify those requiring additional support. The data collected helps teachers differentiate instruction, informs curriculum enhancements, facilitates admission to specialized academic pathways, and supports targeted professional development planning for teachers.
The grading system at KCIS varies by program:
IB MYP & IB DP: The grading system is criterion-based, using a 7-point scale in alignment with the assessment principles of the International Baccalaureate.
AP Program and Regular High School Program: These programs follow the GPA system. KCIS provides a conversion table for translating IB number grades, if needed, for future schools.
Student performance is reported in two main ways:
Academic Grades: An overall evaluation of a student’s achievement, including interim and final grades.
Interim Grades: A progress report provided during the academic term.
