Individuals and Societies

The Individuals and Societies (I&S) Program at Kang Chiao International School provides students with a rich and dynamic learning experience that promotes a deep understanding of the complexities of human societies. For Grades 7 to 10, the program is delivered through the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework and is aligned with U.S. state standards, ensuring both academic rigor and comprehensive coverage. An Honors Program is available for highly proficient and motivated students in Grades 8 to 10, offering more challenging coursework for those who demonstrate strong skill mastery and a commitment to academic excellence in Individuals and Societies

Additionally, Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered to students in Grades 9 and 10. These courses are thoughtfully integrated within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework to ensure a balanced approach that fosters both depth and breadth of learning. By embedding AP content within the MYP’s concept-based and inquiry-driven structure, students not only engage with college-level material but also develop critical thinking, global awareness, and interdisciplinary skills. This integration allows students to build strong academic foundations while preparing for future academic challenges in both AP and IB Diploma Programme pathways.

In the Senior High program at Kang Chiao International School, students can choose from multiple academic pathways in the social sciences. The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) offers a diverse range of courses that emphasize critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, global contexts, and interdisciplinary connections. The AP Program provides a selection of courses that prepare students for college-level study in subjects such as history, economics, geography, and government. The Regular and Elective Courses follow a US-based curriculum framework, catering to different proficiency levels and allowing students to explore specific interests while meeting graduation requirements.
