Mathematics

The Math Program at Kang Chiao International School follows a comprehensive, well-rounded curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of students from Grades 7 to 12. The department adopts the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics, ensuring a cohesive progression of mathematical skills and knowledge.

For Grades 7 to 10, the curriculum is structured within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), where students are encouraged to develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, including arithmetic, geometry, algebra, and number theory. The program emphasizes problem-solving strategies and the application of mathematical knowledge to both textbook and real-world problems. Technology and manipulatives are integral to learning, allowing students to explore abstract concepts in a concrete way. Communication and mathematical reasoning are at the core of the courses, with students engaging in investigations, projects, and reports that require them to clearly organize and communicate their findings.

Additionally, the school offers an Honors Program for Grades 8 to 10 students who demonstrate advanced proficiency in mathematics. This program provides accelerated and enriched coursework, allowing these students to delve deeper into mathematical concepts and challenges, further enhancing their problem-solving skills and preparing them for higher-level math studies.
