Chinese Language and Literature

The Chinese Program at Kang Chiao International School-Taipei Campus is designed to meet the requirements set by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, mandating four years of Chinese Language and Literature. The program is communication-oriented and proficiency-based, with a strong emphasis on contextual learning, where grammar and vocabulary are integrated naturally into the use of the target language.

At KCIS, we believe that language learning is most effective when it occurs in context, with the target language being actively used whenever possible. In addition to language skills, cultural awareness is an essential component of the curriculum. The program integrates authentic Chinese cultural elements into instruction to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture.

The program prioritizes communication, with both learning and assessment focused on students’ ability to effectively use Mandarin in real-world situations. We also believe that language learning should be enjoyable and meaningful, promoting a sense of achievement for students as they progress.
