河辺の「浪漫八橋」

大洲市河辺町には明治、大正、昭和、平成に架けられた八つの屋根付橋があり、「浪漫八橋」と呼ばれています。全国でも珍しい屋根のついた橋は、せめて橋の上だけでも雨露をしのげるようにという先人の知恵と優しさから造られたものと言われます。その思いを現代に受け継ぎ、河辺町の歴史的遺産として保存されています。

河辺・浪漫八橋「龍神橋」（りゅうじんばし）

落差15mの「三杯谷の滝」周辺を自然公園として整備する際、その滝の優雅さと迫力を間近で観賞出来る杉皮葺きの屋根付き歩道橋として、平成２年に建てられました。※長さ 6.0m　幅 3.5m

The "Eight Romantic Bridges" in Kawabe

There are eight covered bridges in Kawabe-cho, Ozu City, built in the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras, and they are called "Roman eight bridges. It is said that these bridges with roofs, which are rare in Japan, were built out of the wisdom and kindness of our ancestors, who wanted at least the tops of the bridges to be sheltered from the rain and dew. The bridge has been preserved as a historical legacy of Kawabe Town, carrying on the spirit of the ancestors.

The bridge was built in 1990 as a covered pedestrian bridge with a cedar bark roof to allow visitors to view the elegance and power of the waterfall up close when the area around the 15-meter drop "Sanpaidani Falls" was developed as a nature park. The bridge is 6.0 m long and 3.5 m wide.
