河辺の「浪漫八橋」

大洲市河辺町には明治、大正、昭和、平成に架けられた八つの屋根付橋があり、「浪漫八橋」と呼ばれています。全国でも珍しい屋根のついた橋は、せめて橋の上だけでも雨露をしのげるようにという先人の知恵と優しさから造られたものと言われます。その思いを現代に受け継ぎ、河辺町の歴史的遺産として保存されています。

もう一つの河辺・浪漫八橋「飛石橋」（とびいしばし）

屋根付橋ではないですが、河辺の個性的なもう一つの "橋" をご紹介します。

「飛石橋」は、地域住民が生活の知恵として古くから川幅31mの河辺川に約27個の飛石を並べて農道として利用していたもので、ふるさと水と土保全モデル事業で、親水スペースとして利用できるように復元されました。※ 長さ 35.5m

The "Eight Romantic Bridges" in Kawabe

There are eight covered bridges in Kawabe-cho, Ozu City, built in the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras, and they are called "Roman eight bridges. It is said that these bridges with roofs, which are rare in Japan, were built out of the wisdom and kindness of our ancestors, who wanted at least the tops of the bridges to be sheltered from the rain and dew. The bridge has been preserved as a historical legacy of Kawabe Town, carrying on the spirit of the ancestors.

Another riverside, romantic eight bridges “Tobiishibashi” (Tobiishi Bridge)

Although not a covered bridge, we would like to introduce another unique "bridge" in Kawabe.

The "Tobiishibashi Bridge" was restored as a waterfront area under the Hometown Water and Soil Conservation Model Project. Length 35.5m
