河辺の「浪漫八橋」
大洲市河辺町には明治、大正、昭和、平成に架けられた八つの屋根付橋があり、「浪漫八橋」と呼ばれています。全国でも珍しい屋根のついた橋は、せめて橋の上だけでも雨露をしのげるようにという先人の知恵と優しさから造られたものと言われます。その思いを現代に受け継ぎ、河辺町の歴史的遺産として保存されています。
河辺・浪漫八橋「ふれあい橋」
「河辺ふるさとの宿」に隣接する町民憩いの場「河辺ふるさと公園」のシンボルの一つとして平成2年から3年にかけて架設されたものです。その昔、旧河辺村には数多くの屋根付き橋がありましたが、車社会が進む中で永久橋に架け替えられ、次第に屋根付き橋の数が少なくなっていったことから、その文化を後世に残したいという思いから、村内の公園に架設されたものです。屋根は茅葺き、一部が杉皮葺きとなっています。※長さ 25.8m 幅 2.0m ~ 4.0m

The "Eight Romantic Bridges" in Kawabe
There are eight covered bridges in Kawabe-cho, Ozu City, built in the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras, and they are called "Roman eight bridges. It is said that these bridges with roofs, which are rare in Japan, were built out of the wisdom and kindness of our ancestors, who wanted at least the tops of the bridges to be sheltered from the rain and dew. The bridge has been preserved as a historical legacy of Kawabe Town, carrying on the spirit of the ancestors.
Kawabe Romantic Eight Bridges "Fureai Bridge"
Fureai Bridge was built between 1990 and 1991 as one of the symbols of "Kawabe Furusato Park," a recreational area for town residents adjacent to "Kawabe Furusato Inn. In the old days, there were many covered bridges in the former Kawabe Village, but they were replaced by permanent bridges as the automobile society progressed, and the number of covered bridges gradually decreased. The roof is thatched, and some parts are thatched with cedar bark. *Length 25.8m Width 2.0m - 4.0m
