Each year, the Optimists' Club sponsors an Oratorical Contest. Students are provided a topic and challenged to prepare and perform a four to five minute speech. The winner advances to additional competitions.
Each year, the Optimists' Club sponsors an Oratorical Contest. Students are provided a topic and challenged to prepare and perform a four to five minute speech. The winner advances to additional competitions.
Open to: Middle School students (6th-8th).
Timeline: The team forms and practices begin at the start of the school year. The video needs to be finished and submitted in January. The awards ceremony is in March.
School Commitment Level: Medium - students must work as a team and meet a series of deadlines along the way to a finished product.
Time Outside of Meetings: Medium - editing and fine tuning the footage takes a great deal of time, more than is available during school.
Academic Focus Areas: This program focuses on areas of career explorations, art, and language arts.
Skills Developed: This program incorporates and develops skills in research, public speaking, professional communications, videography , storytelling,
