Open to: Middle School students (6th-8th). There is also a High School program.
Timeline: The team forms and practices begin at the start of the school year. The regional competition is typically held in March. Often, students advance to the state competition in May and occasionally the national competition in June.
School Commitment Level: Very High - the program runs from the start of the year through March and beyond for students who advance. There are weekly meetings after school and on many weekends.
Time Outside of Meetings: High - Outside of meetings, students are expected to continue their research and reading.
Academic Focus Areas: This program focuses on areas of Social Studies, reading and writing.
Skills Developed: This program incorporates and develops skills in college-level research, formal writing, interviewing, public speaking, organization, as well as specific skills related to the chosen presentation method.
