The Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center invites students to visit the park (its free) and find inspiration to create an original piece of art for the contest. Students may draw. photograph, paint or create art with their chosen medium.
Open to: All grade levels, divided into two-year groupings.
Timeline: The contest is promoted in the fall and the submission deadline is early November.
School Commitment Level: Low - students create a single piece of art and artist statement.
Time Outside of Meetings: Low - must visit the forest and create their art, but there is not ongoing meeting expectations.
Academic Focus Areas: This program focuses on areas of environmental science, writing and art.
Skills Developed: This program incorporates and develops artistic skills.
