AHSM (pronounced awesome) is a program organized by the Cleveland Clinic and run by the Reading Hospital. In the program, students interact with classes in other school districts and medical professionals as the learn about various aspects of medicine through video conferencing.
AHSM (pronounced awesome) is a program organized by the Cleveland Clinic and run by the Reading Hospital. In the program, students interact with classes in other school districts and medical professionals as the learn about various aspects of medicine through video conferencing.
Open to: Middle School students (6th-8th).
Timeline: The team forms at the start of the school year. The programs are during the school day, roughly eight 1-hour sessions.
School Commitment Level: Medium - students must be prepared to make up the work they will miss while attending the sessions. There are no after school sessions to attend.
Time Outside of Meetings: None, with the possible exception of creating a final presentation to share with other schools and the medical professionals.
Academic Focus Areas: This program focuses on creative problem solving, science, and communication.
Skills Developed: This program incorporates and develops skills in critical thinking, communication, and creativity.
