This year's theme, "Race for Success," embodies CFB, PS 16's commitment to excellence and achievement. We were honored to welcome our Superintendent on the first day of teacher orientation, and we extend a warm welcome to our 18 new staff members. Let's rally around them and give them the support they need to thrive in our growing community. It's a team effort, and we're all in this together...to win!
On Friday, September 13th, we rolled out the blue carpet and celebrated the official grand re-opening of our newly renovated Main Building! The event began with an assembly hosted by 5th-grade student Karolina Luzung. All 4th and 5th graders were in attendance, along with distinguished guests from all throughout the district. The assembly featured inspiring speeches from former Student Council members, Reya Manglik and Mihir Patil, Superintendant Dr. Norma Fernandez, and Board President De’Jon Morris. Following the assembly, we held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. Our enthusiastic student ambassadors then led visitors on tours of the school’s impressive new features. As our culminating activity, we held an exciting “Race for the Goal” STEM car competition, inspired by NASCAR. Dr. Fernandez started the race, and the winning car from Room 303, driven by Ahaan, Atharv, Inay, and Oliver, took first place. The day’s festivities concluded with a reception on our balcony. It was a truly memorable day! Let’s continue to race towards success, driven by our shared vision for Cornelia F. Bradford School.
What an exhilarating week filled with page-turning excitement we like to call “Bookjoy.” Our inaugural Book Fair during Back to School Night was a tremendous success at the Annex.
We’ll return in February at the Main for Open House!
New to the main building, our second graders are thoroughly enjoying their playground during recess. Teachers watch with smiles as friendships blossom and imaginations run wild! It's a place where every child finds their own little piece of happiness, making memories that will last a lifetime.
Congratulations to our newly selected student council for the 2024 - 2025 school year! We are thrilled to have such enthusiastic and dedicated individuals representing our student body. Each member brings a unique set of skills and ideas that will undoubtedly contribute to making our school a better place for everyone. We are looking forward to seeing the positive changes and initiatives they will introduce throughout the year. Let's support them wholeheartedly in their efforts to create a more inclusive, engaging, and vibrant community. Here's to a successful and inspiring term ahead!
On September 27th, we held our Second Annual Summit of Success Assembly to honor the outstanding achievements of our students on the NJSLA. We celebrated 46 incredible 4th and 5th graders who scored perfectly in Math and/or ELA, and recognized 164 students who exceeded expectations. A special thank you to the committee and the CPA for their hard work in organizing this event. Individual Student Reports were sent home so parents could view their child's results. Students who earned perfect scores can proudly wear their Perfect Score shirts on Monday, September 30th, and on PE days. Students who achieved perfect scores in both ELA and Math received a $25 gift card from the CPA, while all honored students received a Scholastic Book Gift Card.
