First Lego League Competition
Over 300 students in 23 teams participated Saturday, December 3rd in the district-wide First Lego League Challenge. The dedication, creativity, and problem-solving skills demonstrated by all groups were remarkable and deserve our highest praise.
Tree Lighting
On Tuesday, December 5th, PS 16 held their annual Tree Lighting and Sing-Along. The event was held indoors at the Joan R. Solimine Auditorium. Our students enjoyed caroling, hot cocoa, and the warmth of the holiday spirit.

The Great Mail Race
The fourth grade spent weeks preparing and on Wednesday, December 6th, they finally mailed their letters for The Great Mail Race. Each student wrote a letter hoping to learn more about the 50 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico. They are now patiently waiting for responses from other fourth grades around the country!

Rishan Malhotra, 5th grade student from room 303, recently participated in the National K-12 Grade Chess Tournament held in Miami, Florida. Rishan also secured 4th place in the NJ Grade Chess Championship!
Kira Honmane, Grade 4, was officially recognized last Friday as one of the top 25 finalists in the city’s annual PATH Holiday Poster Contest. Kira’s artwork was showcased at the Journal Square Station throughout the 2023 holiday season. Kudos to Kira and Ms. Gordon!

Playing with the dreidel is a traditional Hanukkah game played in Jewish homes all over the world, and rules may vary. Thanks to second grader, Shea, and his mother all the students in room 101 got to join in the fun!
