where everyday is a new chance...
March is Women's History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women throughout history and in our present day. This year, the national theme, "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations," highlights the significant impact women have made in education, leadership, and communities both in the United States and around the world.
We were excited to highlight the women educators at PS 16, whose dedication and passion have profoundly impacted countless students over the years.
We were honored to host the Women in Leadership Summit, a culminating activity in which our ELA Enrichment students engaged with six esteemed panelists, all education leaders from Jersey City Public Schools. This discussion, a powerful and full-circle moment, inspired our students as we closed out Women's History Month.
You can view some of the student projects related to Women's History Month, featured in a district- wide presentation, starting on slide 11 here: Schools' Contributions 2025 Women's History Presentation
Ms. Isoldi's Kindergarten class was filled with the gentle hum of whispered stories and the occasional giggle as the 5th graders patiently guided their younger reading buddy through the pages of a colorful picture book!!! The teacher, observing from a distance, smiled with pride at the collaborative spirit and camaraderie blossoming within the classroom. It was a true reflection of the power of storytelling and the joy of learning together.
On March 10, 2025, Ms. Palmer's parents fulfilled a life long dream of hers where they visited her Kindergarten classroom and were able to see her teach. Her dad read the story "Goodnight Moon" to the children. He made it interactive by putting his own twist on the book with jokes. The children attentively engaged in the reading session. Ms. Palmer's parents recounted to the class the story of when Ms. Palmer was ages 5-10 she came home daily from school and reenacted her day pretending to be a teacher. Her parents were able to witnessed first hand her dream coming full circle.
