Day 4 (Monday, June 9): National Archaeological Museum (Naples) & Herculaneum

After breakfast at either the Villa or The Lemon Tree, the group visits the National Archeological Museum of Naples, focusing on the Magna Graecia collection but also viewing finds from Pompeii and Herculaneum. After our morning at the museum, we will travel to Ercolano (modern Herculaneum) for lunch at the Pappamonte restaurant. Thus fortified, we travel to the nearby excavations of Herculaneum. You may visit individual buildings at your own speed, and both Dr. Barnes & Dr. Lowe will be on hand for any specific questions - the site is not large. In the late afternoon we return to the Villa Vergiliana for the aperitif hour and dinner.
