STEM Ecosystem Resources

How can you include resources from the STEM Ecosystem into your lessons?

STEM Ecosystems is built on over a decade of research to build successful STEM collaborations. STEM FAMILIES Virtual Home Lab is a series of workshops to share practical tips, virtual experiments and other concrete tools that families – even those with little time, few resources and no STEM exposure or teaching experience – can use to engage their children’s learning.

Using this resource to effectively enhance online learning:

Consider how the STEM Home Labs can support student learning around the 5 E’s:

  • Engage - What activating question or problem will you pose around the topic chosen? How can you integrate the selected home lab?

  • Explore - How can you develop a pathway of resources for students to choose the direction for learning about the topic.

  • Explain - Design opportunities for students to explain the learning gained through the completion of the Home Lab.

  • Extend - What additional questions or research will students complete as a result of the Home Lab resources explored?

  • Evaluate - How was the Home Lab successful in supporting student learning? Have students share self-reflections. What challenges did they face, and what could they try differently next time they complete a Home Lab?

Using this resource across content areas:

For content connections, the Home Labs are addressing different aspects of the world we live in from nature, to exercise to innovation and engineering.
