Artifact 1 - Intention Statement
This artifact, my intention statement, showcases how the way that I view myself has changed over time as a student at IU Indianapolis. My freshman year, I took H200. In that class, I was asked to "reflect upon the values and qualities that you would use to describe yourself in relation to being an honors student at IUPUI" and then write a statement that showcased them. Looking back on this statement now, as a soon-to-be graduate, allows me to see how much I have changed since my freshman year in different aspects of my life. This section is inclusive of my original intention statement from H200, a reflection about who I was when I drafted that statement, and a new intention statement about who I am now.
"I Want To Become" Statement
Reflection
When I wrote my "I want to become" statement, I was a recent high school graduate and wrote this during only my second semester in college. I was still feeling very new to college and I was also playing with a LOT of different passions. I mentioned having students, which is something that stuck. I was still working full time at a job that I was not very excited about, but I had (and still have) big dreams to become something more and something impactful to the world around me.
This assignment was fairly difficult to complete for me. I, like many other people, struggle to talk about myself and at this point in my life, I still had too many goals to organize. I was not dead-set on any one particular goal when I wrote my original "I Want To Become" statement, so it was hard to talk about who I wanted to be later in life.
"I am" Statement
Reflection (Then vs. Now)
I think that looking between my two intention statements, the changes I have experienced during my time in the honors college at IU Indianapolis is clear. Most of the things I wanted to become as outlined in my original intention statement we see come to life in my most recent intention statement. I think it is also possible to see more confidence in who I am now in comparison to who I was then.
As a soon-to-be graduate, I am prideful of who I am and who I am becoming. I also feel more confident in the person that I am, and my values. The comparison in my two intention statements shows my ability to desire something, and then also have the drive to pursue it.
Artifact 2 - Journey Map
This artifact, my journey map, also shows how I have grown in my career at IU Indianapolis. My first journey map from H200 looks at all of the events in my life that brought me to my freshman year in college. In H200 I was asked to reflect on my life experiences that led me to becoming who I was at the time of creating it. My new journey map really looks at what brought me to becoming a BSW student and it also looks into the future about the things I hope to achieve past graduation. This shift--like in my intention statements above-- shows my ability to create goals and achieve them.

Reflection (Then Vs. Now)
The comparison between my original journey map and my updated journey map shows a lot of growth, I think. Even just looking at the two of them, my new journey map looks much cleaner and is more clear to me where I am, where I have been, and where I am going.
This shift also shows some clarity. There's not much information, if any at all, on my original journey map about my future plans. This is because I was not completely sure of what I wanted to do then. Now I feel more confident in my future.
