For the spring of 2023 I took reading, writing, and inquiry. I decided to take the honors section of this class that is typically W131. This will fulfill my three credit hours required for honors this semester and it is also beneficial to my skillset as an honors scholar.
In this class, we have a total of three (3) large projects. The projects are titles "Be Interested" which is a project that allows the writer to discuss their interest in a topic. The second project is "Be Interesting" which allows the writer to persuade their audience of any idea the writer decides to write about. Lastly, the thirs project is called "Be Insightful" which allows the writer to join an ongoing conversation about a topic and present new fresh ideas to a given number of sources. At the end of the semester, we will build an ePortfolio with two pieces of our choice from the projects listed above.
For my second honors course this semester, I took Intro to Honors. This class was set up like a seminar that allows the student to practice skills that are useful in their professional life. This course was also useful for building strong relationships with other honors scholars.
There were main assignments in the class such as the "I Am" and "I Want to Become" statements. There was a group project which fostered collaboration and also we also completed an ePortfolio assignment for this class as well. The grading system was based on what you complete and how often you attended class with three "tokens" or "graces" for any mistakes. The grading was on a "bundle" scale. This means that you chose your grade based on the effort you provided.
