WORKSHOP/ePORTFOLIO KICKOFF: Attend the full-day ePortfolio Institue Workshop: ideate, share, and start editing your Participant Page
INTEGRATE ePORTFOLIOS into CANVAS ASSIGNMENTS/DISCUSSIONS: Integrate ePortfolios into your course syllabus: share the before and after on your Participant Page
PRE-COURSE SURVEY: Require students to complete the pre-course ePortfolio survey
DAY ONE, MENTION ePORTFOLIOS: Introduce ePortfolios quickly on day one: share an example or two--let them know the project/s that will share in the ePortfolio [3 minutes to pitch the idea: no need for instruction or details]
BUILD THE ePORTFOLIO + ADD A MAJOR ASSIGNMENT by WEEK 7: Scedule an ePortfolio Team class visit and ePortfolio build: plan to build the ePortfolio THE CLASS PERIOD STUDENTS HAVE A MAJOR CANVAS ASSIGNMENT DUE. This is the best time for student to build the ePortfolio architecture + add that assignment during class. We're here to help. You can cover the build or invite the ePortfolio team to help. It is important to wait for the ePortfolio build until there is something substantial to add to the ePortfolio; then you can build with your students: website, tabs, copy/paste content, add images, add hyperlinks, publish the page [manage access], and share the URL on Canvas. This in-class activity teaches students vital skills as they use them in-real-time to build their first ePortfolio entry.
REQUIRE STUDENTS TO TURN IN WORK THROUGH ePORTFOLIO URLS via CANVAS: Require students to turn in a URL to assignments completed on the ePortfolio TWO other times [or more] during the semester with peer review as an expectation for at least one of these Canvas Discussions. [That's 3 more engagements with the ePortfolio]
REQUIRE PARTICIPATION in the ePORTFOLIO SHOWCASE: Build a Canvas Assignment that requires students to share their work in the Engaged Learning & ePortfolio Showcase.
END OF COURSE SURVEY: Require students to complete the end-of-course ePortfolio Survey via a Canvas Assignment.
PRESENT AT COP: Present your work to the ePortfolio Community of Practice.
PRESENT ON CAMPUS: Present/Share your work to your department or other peers on campus.
Optional: Present your work at an academic conference
REFLECT: Write a reflection of your ePortfolio integration experience + END of INSTITUTE SURVEY to share three student ePortfolios that the ePortfolio Team will upload to your Participant Page for you.
Mention ePortfolios briefly on Day 1
Require a major assignment thorough CANVAS; within one week, provide CLASS TIME to build the ePortfolio + Copy/paste or embed the assignment
Require the next major assignment to be turned in through an ePortfolio URL on CANVAS; include peer review.
Require a third assignment to be turned in through a URL to a new ePortfolio page/section.
Require students to share the ePortfolio in the IEL Engaged Learning & ePortfolio Showcase
1) Day One: Introduce ePortfolios and a sample ePortfolio on day one [5 minutes];
2) Major Assignment Due: Have students open a digital account and then add an artifact when the first major component of the project is due, like an annotated bibliography or review of literature [15-20 minutes of class time designated to introduce and work on ePortfolio];
3) Second Major Component Due: Give students 15-20 minutes of class time to add work when a second major assignment is due;
4) Peer Review: Provide 15 minutes of class time for peer review of ePortfolio entries [This is the ideal time to include a Canvas assignment to enter the ePortfolio in the IEL Engaged Learning & ePortfolio Showcase];
5) ePortfolio Presentations: Turn in the final ePortfolio and provide class time to present or share ePortfolios at the end of the semester [15 to 20 minutes] + Add to ePortfolio Showcase
*ePortfolios can be great presentation tools.

Students turn in the assignment on Canvas, then copy/paste it into the ePortfolio during class.
3) Next Major Component Due: Give students 15-20 minutes of class time to add work when a second major assignment is due. At this point, students can turn in the ePortfolio URL on Canvas rather than turn in work in two formats;
4) Peer Review: Provide 15 minutes of class time for peer review of ePortfolio entries [This is the ideal time to include a Canvas assignment to enter the ePortfolio in the IEL Engaged Learning & ePortfolio Showcase]. Students can share ePortfolio URLs in a Canvas Thread, then reply with comments -OR- talk through ePortfolios together during class.
5) ePortfolio Presentations: Turn in the final ePortfolio and provide class time to present or share ePortfolios at the end of the semester [15 to 20 minutes] + ADD to the ePORTFOLIO SHOWCASE
