IASAS MUN 2019

About the Conference

Every year, each of the six Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools (IASAS) bring delegates together to host a Model United Nations (MUN) conference. At its very core, MUN is about understanding the dynamic relations between countries that shape our world today. Fundamentally speaking, MUN provides an insight into contemporary world affairs, providing an opportunity to address global issues from a multitude of perspectives. This year IASAS MUN will be hosted at the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL). The ISKL Secretariat is excited to welcome you in November!

Conference Dates: November 7-9th 2019

THE VENUE

ISKL is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, a diverse city of over 2 million people with a thriving local community that students can socialize with and learn from. We also have a vast busing community, with access and regular rides to and from neighborhoods such as Mont Kiara, KLCC, and Putrajaya.

The campus, is set on approximately 26 acres of land in Ampang Hilir and is designed to create the most advanced learning environment featuring academic, arts, and athletic resources. This includes world-class science labs and classrooms with flexible teaching spaces, two libraries, gymnasiums, competition swimming facilities, regulation track and playing fields as well as a performing arts center.

ISKL’s ‘green’ facility is the first Malaysian school designed to achieve platinum Green Building Index (GBI) status with environmentally sustainable concepts.

This year's conference theme:

When deciding the slogan of this years conference many ideas were brought to the table. The theme that stood out was "Reaching for 2030". This slogan signifies the empowerment of youth for a better future during a pivotal time of our lives, as well as directly referencing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With the world seemingly on the precipice of environmental ruin, economic volatility, and the ever-present threat of nuclear warfare, we as the youth are the way forward and the leaders of tomorrow. So: take big leaps, seize opportunities, and look toward the future - reach for 2030.
