Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is nature, movies, books, and weapons. This relates to the virtue Zhi, because you need Zhi for using weapons, reading books. The images in my mural that convey this are the car, the tornado, the leaves, and the sword getting pierced through the car.
One of the ideas I like the most is how I drew a vine on top of the tram representing nature. One place I wish I could paint my mural is on a tram. The meaning/purpose would be with Humanity and Knowledge, we can protect nature and let no one destroy it.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on a building’s wall.
The meaning/purpose would be different here because it will mean saving nature because humanity is destroying it.
The mural I’ve made is about the consequences of human consumption of earth’s natural resources. It also represents the virtue Ai, and our love for our planet. This sparks my imagination because I want to think of ways to raise awareness of the growing problem of climate change and the overuse of earth’s resources. It is also interesting to think of ways to express this problem in a way that the art still looks nice, but the underlying message is not beautiful at all. The underlying message is that humans are destroying our planet through deforestation and contribution to global warming.
The images in my mural that convey this are a landscape of burning trees, representing both the warming of our earth and also trees being burned down because of human activity. If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural would be on a tram, because trams move around, and this vivid mural would stand out and be easy to see. But, in order to see the full meaning, you have to look at both sides of the tram, which people may not be able to do. The meaning/purpose would be to spread the word of global warming and human activity destroying our planet. Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on a wall. The meaning/purpose would be different here because the vivid colors will just stand out a lot. It may raise some awareness, but given that people have more time to examine it, they will probably just end up looking at the drawing, and not really think about the meaning.
The mural I’ve made is about Balance and the virtue 平. This sparks my imagination because I enjoy nature, I also like a balance between everything, so I thought, why not combine these two ideas together. The images in my mural that convey this are mostly mountains, hills, all in different colours, some colours are fantasy colours for mountains, and others are more realistic, this gives the viewer a sense of balance between real life and fantasy. Another example of 平 is as you can see, one side of the tram is painted to be night time, and the other side is full of daylight colours. It's still a simple balance that everyone understands, one last idea in the mural on the tram is if you look closely, you can see that the night side is planted with small and short houses while the day side is decorated with tall trees and plants, this is also a balance between nature and humanity. One place I wish I could paint my mural would be on this tram, because a tram can be driven to many places, this could give a wider number of viewers. Nowadays everybody who travels in buses often forgets what is right in front of them, so I decided to put bolder and brighter colours on the tram to make it more visible. The purpose would be to make my audience understand what 平 means and how it applies to many things. Another place I wish to paint my mural is on the staircase. The purpose would be different because many people who arrive in that staircase would most likely choose the elevator, but if we add colour and purpose to the stair cases, it would change their thoughts.
The mural I’ve made is about climate change and global warming. This sparks my imagination because climate change is happening all over the world, it is a big problem and it needs to stop. The images in my mural that convey this are that we should try our best to stop climate change, otherwise, we won’t have a world full of joy and peace. If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural would be on city walls. One of the ideas I like the most is how I drew many animals that represented each color of the rainbow. The meaning/purpose would be to remind people that pass/see/observe this mural to remember that if we don’t stop climate change, many global problems will be caused. Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on sightseeing trams/buses. The meaning/purpose would be different here because people that are visiting the sightseeing areas will be more conscious of littering and doing other things that contribute to climate change.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is
Tennis, and music.
The images in my mural that convey this are
The different colors that I have on my mural.
One of my ideas I like the most on my mural is the
Music section, because whenever I listen to music, I feel very free, and that I can do anything.
One place I wish I could paint my mural is
On the side of a building, because people who pass by would be able to see the mural, and if it’s a popular building, then the mural would be seen by a lot of people.
The meaning/purpose would be
To make people see my mural, and bring some more color into the world.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is
On a wall, because I feel like it’s easier to draw on a flat surface, and not on a bus because there is not a lot of space to paint.
The meaning/purpose would be different here because
A wall might not be as popular as a side of a building, and not a lot of people might see it, so I think that my mural might not be seen by a lot of people. I want it to be on a wall because I want people to notice it.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is Harry Potter. I really enjoyed reading the books and watching the movies. One thing I really admired about the story is how it incorporated many life lessons and how it talks about how your choices are what define you, not your background or ability. For example, through the different houses (Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff), the story talks about some of the important character traits that everyone should have (ambitious, intelligent, brave, loyal).
The images in my mural that convey this are the different parts on the side of the tram that says “Be Ambitious like a Slytherin”, “Be Intelligent like a Ravenclaw”, “Be Brave like a Gryffindor” and “Be Loyal like a Hufflepuff”. On the top, the mural also says “Be the best version of yourself”, which is a summary of the message I would like to convey through this mural. These messages also have images beside them to match up with the sentences.
One of my ideas I like the most is the mural of Harry Potter life lessons. This is because I believe that it is important that everyone has those traits and understand how only your choices enable you to be the best version of yourself. Since this is painted on a tram, the message will be able to spread to lots of people all around the city.
One place I wish I could paint my mural is on a wall. This is because walls are usually more eye-catching than floors, as people tend to look up if they want to admire the scenery, rather than the floor. I also wish to paint my mural on a wall instead of the stairs. This is because I think that if the mural was painted on the stairs, the mural would look disconnected and not quite have the effect of reflecting nature and the city as well.
The meaning/purpose I wish to convey is that it is important to be brave, loyal, intelligent and ambitious. Some people might think it is impossible because of their background or ability, but I would like to show them that their choices are what defines them and enables them to become the best version of themselves, as a global citizen and following the traits of the 4 houses. Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on a moving vehicle, for example a bus or tram. The meaning/ purpose would be different here because more people would be able to spot it as they wouldn’t have to crowd around a specific wall to admire the mural. The mural would move around the city, allowing for more people, with different jobs and backgrounds to receive the message, which results in a broader audience. Also, since Covid-19 is currently causing most people in Hong Kong to not travel around much, the tram will be able to bring the mural’s message around the city and pass everyone’s doorsteps.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is walking outside and enjoying nature. I do this quite often because I live on a mountain and by the sea.
The image in my mural that conveys this is all the plants :D
One of the ideas I like the most is the bauhinia flowers, the official flower of Hong Kong. I think it shows this is in Hong Kong subtly and the flower is also on the Hong Kong flag.
One place I wish I could paint my mural in on a wall in a crowded area (e.g. Causeway Bay)
The meaning/purpose would be to remind people to protect nature in a developed area where everyone is driving and using modern technology, which pollutes the air.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on a tram.
The meaning/purpose would be different here because a tram can drive around, it can spread the message of protecting nature all around Hong Kong, so a bigger audience will see this mural and understand this message.
I like that I used the black pen to outline some elements to make them stand out.
However, I do wish that I used darker colours in the background to make this mural stand out more.
The mural I’ve made is about balance and shows the virtue He.
This sparks my imagination because coexistence is often something we all struggle with. Wars and conflicts, and outright genocides. I imagine ways to stop these conflicts bring peace.
The images in my mural that convey this are the cracks that act as borders for water and fire. The meteors and water drops are all facing the other, as if it was a war. Reflecting on human conflicts and acts of war.
If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural on a tall square base skyscraper as it can be viewed by people all around the city and the sides can all be clearly viewed (except for the top). And fire and water can each have their own panel emphasizing that separation between fire and water.
The meaning/purpose would be to show a conflict but also how both sides aren’t able to attack the other side. And co-existent is finally possible.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is a wall.
The meaning/purpose would be different here because the two sides would not be as clearly emphasized without water and fire each having a different panel. A wall would only have one panel, not emphasizing the conflict enough.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is boxing because It is very challenging and it needs a lot of practice to succeed in a match. Every time I succeed in a match I will feel very proud of myself and my confidence will rise.
The images in my mural that convey this are to believe in your dreams and follow your dreams. (Hobby wise dream)
One of the ideas I like the most is the boxing mural.
One place I wish I could paint my mural is on a wall beside or near a boxing centre.
The meaning/purpose would be for people who love boxing to not give up, follow their dreams, and work hard.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on a minibus because more people can see it and it can also inspire them to follow their dreams.
The meaning/purpose would be different here because the minibus will be moving around and it can inspire more people.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is music because music calms me down and it makes me feel free because when I listen to music, it's like I’m in my own world, where I am free to do anything.
The images in my mural that convey this are that when the dog is sleeping it’s also in its own imaginary world, where its troubles go away and just be free from reality, so it feels really nice, kind of like when I am listening to music but sleeping.
One of the ideas I like the most is how there is a battery sign in the mural, showing that it is low on battery, which I think is a pretty unique way of showing that someone is tired.
One place I wish I could paint my mural is on a wall or tram because walls are very easy to draw on, and trams stand out from the crowd. The meaning/purpose would be the balance and importance between relaxation and stress. Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on the gates of shops very common in hk, because it is very unique and cool.
The meaning/ purpose would be different here because it can give a stronger meaning to the crowd and let them better understand my mural.
The mural I’ve made is about peace, equality, love, and friendship. These are representatives of the virtue Ai and Ping.
This sparks my imagination because I’ve seen images of murals with hearts and heart gestures and that just made me think if I could get these two elements together in my design.
Images in my neural that convey are the heart gesture and the bubble words
If I could paint anywhere, one place that I wish I could paint my mural would be on a side wall somewhere near a school
The purpose for me to do that would be to remind students to keep these virtues in mind at school
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is probably on the floor. The meaning/purpose would be different here because those who are not in the academic stage will stand a larger proportion and I think not only people who are in academic stages, but everyone needs to understand these in order to create a better community.
The mural I’ve made is about
The virtues that people feel in life, and each of the colors represent one type of feeling. For example blue is xiao and red is ai.
This sparks my imagination because
Virtues are very cool and mysterious things to me, they are magical in many movies too. Therefore I made a tram design that has 2 important virtues.
The images in my mural that convey this are
The different colors that are included in my tram.
If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural would be
On a real life tram
The meaning/purpose would be
For other people to learn these virtues.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is a wall of a building,
The meaning/purpose would be different here because
It would be a bigger mural and people could go to that same spot everyday to look at my mural?
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is spider man, spiderman is my favorite character in marvel.
Spider man sparks my imagination because while most male superheroes are relatively stoic, packed with physical strength, aggressive, rugged or invulnerable, Spider-Man shows that there is much more than that to being a man. Even Spidey's superpowers are more about his agility and quick reflexes than super strength.
Spider-Man is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
One of my ideas I like the most is that I highlighted the words I want others to look at eg. MARVEL and SPIDER-MAN
When thing I like the most is my tram use spider-man most local color(red and blue)
The meaning/purpose would be Sending people if they were threats, Spidey senses, Or tying people to walls with webs, so the justice system could sort them out. He also was quiet, so could sneak up on anyone, disappear without a trace.
Another place I wish i can paint is on a building wall
The meaning/purpose would be different here because it's painted in a different context/style so it may give people different thoughts.
The mural I’ve made is about equality for everyone, and you should feel able to be yourself.
This sparks my imagination because I think that equality is a very important aspect of life. Wherever you go, if people keep on only judging you for who you are by your ethnicity or your pronouns, you will start to believe those mean comments about yourself, but people have to know that you are more than just your ethnicity and pronouns. Everyone is different and unique in their own way, but in the end, aren’t we all human beings that need to learn to love each other no matter who we are.
The images in my mural that convey this are multiple different flags that convey different ethnicities, a big rainbow heart conveying the LGBTQ+ community, and an image of earth with people holding hands around it, with big words added equal, to convey we should be treated equally no matter where we are from or are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural would be to draw it digitally. Due to the situation of COVID right now, most people are stuck home glued to their screens from E-learning and other essential work. Since at this time, most people are on their devices frequently, I should seize this opportunity to draw something digitally and post it onto the internet.
The meaning/purpose would be in some people’s eyes, they look at people and only think of their ethnicity and stereotypes from their country, instead of thinking these people are human beings like us, that should be treated the same way no matter what ethnicity they are. Since I was thinking about the equality of people’s different ethnicity, I also thought about the people who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, and I also wanted to spread the word that even if you are lesbian, gay, bisexual e.x.c, you should be able to be who you are, without other people judging you for who you are. Other people should allow us to be proud of who are, where we come from, whether we’re lesbian or gay or others, people should still treat us with the same treatment they give to others. We are all unique in our own ways, people should appreciate who we are, if they comment on you, remember to don’t let these words drag you down. We are all perfect the way we are, don’t underestimate yourself because you are different like others, it's not your fault, it's the people who don’t treat you the same fault.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on a wall because say if I paint a mural in causeway bay, lots of people can easily walk by and see it since causeway bay is such a common area to be at. However, I wouldn't want to paint my mural on a flight of stairs, since my mural takes up a wider amount of space, and I think if I were to paint it on stairs, the layout of the mural would look very weird. Another reason is that it’s also hard to see the mural if it's on a flight of stairs since people would have to look at a certain angle to look at the mural, whereas if I painted it on a wall, it is more appealing to the eye, and even if people are in a rush to go somewhere, they can still catch a glimpse of the mural, since it's on a wide canvas, and it's easy to spot.
The meaning/purpose would be different here because having the mural on digital versus a wall means that everyone all over the world can be able to look at the mural, and they will get the right message that everyone in the world is different in their own way, and people have to accept that. Whereas if the mural was on the wall in Causeway bay, people might only think that this message is towards Hong Kong people exclusively. So there might be some miscommunication towards different places I present my mural, and if I do have the choice I would still prefer uploading it onto the internet. Since due to covid, everyone is at home attached to screens, so it’ll be easy for people to see the mural, since people are usually on their devices.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is climate change and how we can solve it. Climate change sparks my imagination because it allows me to discover what is happening in the world and how humans have contributed to this tragic situation of pollution and melting ice. Climate change is not a good thing, and it does not spark my imagination by making me want to contribute more carbon into the atmosphere, but how I can save the world and send this message around the world to go green and to be environmentally friendly.
The images in my mural convey the message to stop climate change by acting on it instead of just merely thinking about what the world without climate change would be. I showed this by drawing a girl in the distant future. If we don’t act now, climate change will cause the future to be full of pollution and landfills full of trash. The girl is thinking about how agriculture will come in and trees will be grown again. In the distant future, loads of flying cars are polluting the surrounding environment, and there is no other place to grow plants and everywhere is trash as there is no place to live, only on the orange bridge, you can see what the world has become.
One of my ideas I like the most is the first one, because it makes others think about what it really means and makes people consider the thought of acting to change climate change and make the world a better place. They can see that if we don’t act on it, the world would be like the one in the drawing where you need to wear a mask in order to breathe and not a single place is not polluted and most of the population is gone. What we need is to make a world that is better, like the one in the thoughts to make everything a better place. One place I wish I could paint my mural is on a wall like any other mural would most likely be. It has loads of space to show people and can catch people’s attention easily as it is huge.
The meaning/purpose would be to tell people to stop polluting the world and start being eco friendly. It could be near somewhere dirty or polluted, to show people what the world is like now and what the world could be like. The thoughts of the girl also show what will happen if you make a change to the planet and be more environmentally friendly.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on a tram. The meaning/purpose would be different here because a tram can move around and it can tell everyone this message, and it wouldn’t just target a specific group of people, instead it could tell this message to the whole of Hong Kong and how they can act on it.
The mural I’ve made is about Hong Kong’s culture. This sparks my imagination because I think culture is what makes different places or different time periods interesting. The images in my mural that convey this is the tram and the buildings.
If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural would be on any sort of public transport that existed for a long time, preferably one that shows the culture of Hong Kong like a tram or a boat.
The meaning/purpose would be to show the importance of culture.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on a wall in a densely populated area, with everyone stuck at home, it would be more likely for people to look out their window and notice it. The meaning/purpose would be different here because it's painted in a different context so it may give people different thoughts compared to the one on the tram.
Something that sparks my imagination and curiosity are shapes and words. I enjoy drawing 3D words and also enjoy playing around with shapes that have different sizes and colors. Doing this sparks my imagination and curiosity by allowing me to realize we have so much space and freedom to design a picture and how we could literally create something by simply using 2D shapes and 3D words, even having a message conveyed!
The images in my mural that convey this are the different shapes in the background that are connected with different sizes and shapes, with some of them being filled to pop out (which matches what I’ve said about shapes above), and also the 3D block letters on both sides of my tram saying “You Can Do This” (which also matches what I have said above). One of my ideas I like the most is the shapes in the background. This is because when I was sketching this, I noticed that the background of the tram seemed like it was too simple (and I also didn’t want to color it), so I suddenly thought it might be cool if I added a lot more shapes and connected all of them together. It turns out that this was a pretty good decision, because it enabled the background to be more interesting and not so simple, and it also wasn’t too messy or hard to see. Also, I liked the top right corner on the side of the tram that says “Do This” because they were actually passing through each other while the other parts of the background were overlapping. I thought it was pretty interesting but I didn’t make the whole background like this because I thought it would be too messy and complicated.
If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural on a wall next to a school. My mural should be on a pretty flat surface and should be pretty wide because my murals contain mostly shapes so it would look quite different if it was on a curvy surface and also the message conveyed could be misunderstood. If the mural was on a building, it wouldn’t be really able to show how the shapes behind the words connect to each other. So, a staircase or a building wouldn’t work as well as a wall or a tram which both has a pretty flat and wide surface. The meaning/purpose would be to encourage the students from this school to be more positive and also to tell them that they’ve got this if they have an exam that day. This would encourage them to do things they wouldn’t usually do and be more confident, and this might also lighten up their day if they had a really stressful day and just weren’t in the right mood. Another place I wish I could paint my mural would be on a tram because during more severe times during COVID-19, people wouldn’t be able to leave their houses that easily, so it’s hard to see murals that are on the ground or walls, while if the mural was on a moving tram, some people who live next to roads with trams could easily see this. After COVID, I would still keep it on a tram because people would go on them so there would still be a large number of people who would look at this. The meaning/purpose would be different here because trams move unlike how walls just stay in the same place, which means that the people who look at this mural would be even broader than the mural on the wall. Since the people who will look at this all have different jobs and backgrounds, it’s hard to find a specific topic for a specific group of people, so I think that by just putting a pretty simple message (to encourage people who live nearby to be positive and try to do things that they usually wouldn’t do or that are very challenging but meaningful) that works for everyone would be a great decision.
The mural I’ve made is about
All of the feelings that people feel in life, and each of the colors represent one type of feeling. For example blue might be sad and purple might be fear.
This sparks my imagination because
All humans and animals have feelings, one’s feeling might be different and you can also use art to represent your feelings. Therefore I made a tram design that has multiple feelings over one.
The images in my mural that convey this are the different colors that are included in my tram.
If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural would be
On a real life tram
The meaning/purpose would be
For other people to be able to convey their feelings while using the colors on my tram.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is a wall of a building,
The meaning/purpose would be different here because
It would be a bigger mural and people could go to that same spot everyday to look at my mural. This would remind the people in the city of how we have emotions and that they change. I want to spread awareness on how people are not just robots.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is the virtue Ping, shiny colors, maths, movies, books. The images in my mural that convey this is the balance in color in the tram. One of my ideas I like the most is that even the background colors of my tram is “balanced”(orange and green both take up half of the tram)One place I wish I could paint my mural is on the tramThe meaning/purpose would be to let more people realize the importance of pingAnother place I wish I could paint my mural is on the wall. The meaning/purpose would be different here because it would just brighten up the city instead of showing the importance of Ping.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity are nature and positive or welcoming words. These murals help me convey that you are welcome to this place or put positive words to make negative people feel better and happier about themselves. The images in my mural that convey this are about nature and the importance of itOne of my ideas I like the most is how i drew the trees and leaves on my muralOne place I wish I could paint my mural is on trams because people in the city can look at my murals and take a picture. The meaning/purpose would be about saving the environment. Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on the walls because people who walk around hong kong can look at my mural. The meaning/purpose would be different here because it is stuck onto a wall and less people can see it.
The mural I’ve made is about how in the future, science will rule the world, and everything from the trees to the grass will be artificially created by science. This sparks my imagination because I like science and scientists are already using science to create beef almost out of thin air, and making genetically modified plants. When I see this it makes me wonder what is the limit of what humanity can achieve using science, this sparks my imagination because I then think of what humanity can create, and when. The images in my mural that convey this are the trees and the buildings are all in the shape of a test tube, signifying science, since science is commonly related to chemicals or test tubes. If I could paint it anywhere, one place I wish I could paint my mural would be on the side of a science faculty.
The meaning/purpose would be to tell people walking by, they might then figure out that it's a science faculty. And it also shows that these places are going to make a new world, a world full of science.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is on the side of a building in a very busy street like somewhere in Central, this is because many people could see it since it’s extremely busy.
The meaning/purpose would be different here because it is supposed to tell people that although you might be content with the technology right now, soon science will be further upgraded to even greater heights, and greater technology and the whole world will be drastically different.
Another place I wish I could paint my mural is probably on the floor
The meaning/purpose would be different here because those who are not in the academic stage will stand a larger proportion and I think not only people who are in academic stages, but everyone needs to understand these in order to create a better community.
