When I was younger, I would always pretend that all of my stuffed animals were alive and would create a stuffed animal family. Animals, both stuffed or unstuffed, sparks my curiosity and creativity. Every year, a few stuffed animals joins the family (either from carnival games or presents). I wanted to bring this world into life, so I selected a few of my stuffed animals to "model" for this mural of them invading the human world (as the panda up on the top right says). Sometimes, I want to believe that stuffed animals do have a secret life that no humans know about. Maybe their lives are exactly the same as ours? (the stuffed animals all actually exist, they are just 11 of an imaginary family of 37)
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity are stuffed animals and actual animals (especially horses). You can see this in my mural ideas because there are lots of live and talking stuffed animals in the drawing.
One place I would paint my mural is a rural or desolate place. The purpose would be to brighten or light up the area (the mural is really (excessively) colourful) and to spread joy and the message of having fun (as the bird on the top-middle says).
Another place I would paint my mural is a wall that actually has cracks on it. The purpose would be to make the mural more “realistic” with the fact that that it could be possible to have stuffed animals piling out of cracks on the walls to invade our human world.
In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on a wall because a tram would have too many windows and stairs would give the animals a queer look (I do not wish to offend them). Next time, I would put the mural on only one side of the wall in the street instead of every single wall to avoid headless panda (again, I do not wish to offend her).
Something that sparks my imagination and curiosity is mushrooms, books and giant things, you can see these things in my mural as there are giant books lying all over the place and there are also overgrown mushrooms everywhere. One place that I would put my mural on is on a big building which could be a book shop, because when I read books I enter a magical world full of interesting things.
The idea of my mural came from my mom, her favourite thing was always mushrooms, and she suggested that I try draw some mushrooms, so thats what I did. In the street scene there are many walls, which I didn't want to just draw my mural on one and leave all of the others plain and boring, so I extended my original mural so it could go on all 5 walls on the street scene.
In my mural there are lots of things that spark my curiosity, such as the giant books, the giant mushrooms, the waterfall, the wales and the little red birds and one flying fish. The idea behind mu mural was that it is a magical world full on wonder like in a fantasy story book where you can enter through the book. I tried to make every mushroom in my mural unique and different in their own way if it was the colours, size and shapes of the mushrooms.
My mural has lots of bright and vibrant colours, but also has a. few softer colours in it, so it is not too bright. The main colours I chose to include in my mural was green blue and brown, because I wanted the mushrooms to seem somewhat edible and I found that brown was not a very liked colour by lots of people and wasn't used a lot so I wanted to include all kinds of brown in my mural, so I could also show people that brown can also be a super nice colour.
I found a pair of flamingo slippers sitting around my home, which brought an idea to my mind. I wanted to bring those slippers to life, make them as if they were real flamingos, or more like baby flamingos. I also wanted to put some action into my mural idea, so that it would be like a real animal. So I came to the idea of flamingos crashing through a wall, leaving a large hole in it.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is a pair of slippers that have a creative design, for instance, flamingo slippers.
The creative design of these slippers inspired my ideas of bringing the it to “life”, just like real animals. I wanted to put some action and life into the pair of slippers. This is shown from the flamingos crashing through a wall, creating a crack in it.
One place I would paint my mural on is a wide wall. I think that this would make sense since the original idea was for the flamingos to create a crack in the wall, and bust through it. The reason why I would choose a wide wall is because I could make it bigger, and it would be more surreal and interesting. The purpose would be to remind the people walking by this wall to be creative and have fun! It also brightens up the place bringing a little bit of joy through action to the area.
Another place I would paint my mural is on a tram. The dimensions would be a little different, but I think that it would look cool on a tram. If it is just the mural itself, it might be a little bland, but if I added little extra elements, it would make the tram more colorful and fun. The purpose would be to let the people who take the tram realise that life is full of fun and creativity. Also, it would bring some color to just an average tram that you see in your daily life, which I think would bring some joy and inspire people to think out of the box, or just have fun with it.
In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on a wall, because in my head, I thought that it would make the most sense, since the concept of my mural is a crack through the wall with flamingo slippers crashing through it
Imagination and curiosity: Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is a mug, smoke, tea and things with bright colours and patterns.
Mural ideas: You can see this in my mural ideas because there are bright colours everywhere. There is also a cup of tea with frothing smoke.
Place 1: One place I would paint my mural is on a wall of a cafe . The meaning/purpose would be to brighten the street and bring attention to the cafe.
Place 2: Another place I would paint my mural is a street that is not normally visited by tourist . The meaning/purpose would be to brighten the streets and bring some visitors.
Mural location: In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on a wall (tram, wall, stairs) because i thought it look nice with the street.
Evaluation: I like how i decorated the street with bright colours but it might be too distracting from my actual mural. I like the location i picked to draw my mural because the location i decided to draw my mural looks like a shop.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity could be anything! Anything from random numbers to objects in my house to buildings outside.
You can see this in my mural ideas as my mural was a building with the words “Lay’s” on it with perspective. There was a Lay’s Chips package on the table, and I thought of making a mural that combines Lay’s Chips and a building.
One place I would paint my mural is on a public building as said above. The meaning/purpose would be to show that things can transform into other things (Very clear, right?).
Another place I would paint my mural is on a blank wall. The meaning/purpose would be to show that something can be represented in different ways.
In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on a public building because the Lay’s package was a cylinder so it should be on a building or something that is horizontal and 3D.
Originally, my design was to have a paper car stuck on a colorful mural. Then I kind of changed the design by not implementing the paper car because it looks like they came from a completely different universe. It also looked wrong as the color contrast wasn’t as good as I hoped. I have a feeling I did the right choice or else my mural will look quite bizarre. My intention of creating this mural if not the class requirement is to simply have something to look at in the streets. Just something that is not grey or white.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is something colorful. This can lead me to think and wonder what’s beyond just the colors.
You can see this in my mural ideas, I sketched out things related to the nature and the very different world of animals and plants. There are multiple colors in the mural, which leads people to wonder and brightens up the mood in certain places.
One place I would paint my mural is a tram. The meaning/purpose would be to let the mural travel around and let people see the colorful world made from flowers. The idea of this would be to spread the positivity and let people look on the bright side of their day.
Another place I would paint my mural would be on a wall, it can light up the street, but having it on a tram would let more and different people see it anywhere at anytime. In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on multiple walls and a tram, because I think both places are equally common around the world and its a public place where everyone can enjoy the piece of artwork.
In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on both a tram and walls, but I think I did better drawing it on the street walls. This is because I added more things related to the mural idea on several other walls on the street, I thought I could put more detail to the walls and add more to the street. I think I did good on this design, but I think I should make a better choice to let some parts stand out more than the other.
My original idea was to have a space theme with planets but I desided to change the theme to a candle with a forest and a unicorn, because the dark blackness of the space was not drawn.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity are music and my skateboard.
In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on a wall because it would look very nice and it's a public place where everyone can enjoy the piece of artwork. I didn’t do the stairs and trams because the platform is not even like in trams, there are windows and doors that makes the picture weird and uneven. Also at the stairs, if you go close to it, it looks very weird and people won’t know what it is. It is also because it can light up the street, but having it on a tram would let more and different people see it anywhere at anytime.
You can see this in my mural idea because my mural is showing a headphone and the music symbols to show that life has its ups and downs like music. The skateboard meaning that we need balance and tells people to always be fair and equal even when you are resting and doing work and education.
One place I would paint my mural on is on a big wall on a main street where everyone can see. I think that this would make sense because in the main streets, there are many things going on, cars beeping, people talking, music playing… and so I think it would fit perfectly and also a lot of people can see my mural at the same time.
Another place I would paint my mural on is on a tram because I think my mural would look cool on a tram. If it is just the mural itself, I need to add little extra elements, it would make the tram more colourful and fun where everyone could see. The meaning/purpose would be to let the mural travel around and let people see the colourful world it is on Earth, the meaning of life and motivate others to be the best version of themselves.
I drew my mural on the tram, because it is bright and colourful, and will draw attention to it. Also, it is easier to see, you don’t have to go to a certain place to enjoy the mural. I think that the colours are rather bright and colourful, bringing joy and cheerfulness to its surroundings, which is the purpose of most murals. But i don't really like the streaks made by the coloured pencil. Some of the pencil marks aren’t erased properly as well, and i think that i should outline the mural with a black pen or marker, to enhance the colours. Also, I think that the shading of the windows are rather unnatural. If i had to put it on a wall, it would be around a park, or a bookstore. This is because it is rather fantasy like, and it involves plants. Making plants more interesting.
Something that sparks my imagination and curiosity is listening to music and also doing nothing.
You can see this in my mural ideas because there are instruments and music related stuff in it. For example the trumpet, the flute, the xylophone, and music notes.
One place I would paint my mural is on a wall of a music store like Parson’s Music or something. The meaning/purpose would be to attract more customers to the store and people walking by can “appreciate” it.
Another place I would paint my mural is my room. The meaning/purpose would be so that my room wouldn’t be completely white so it’s like a decoration and give my room a pop of color.
In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on a wall (tram, wall, stairs) because if it were on stairs it would like kind of trippy and weird and I don’t have the patience to draw it on a tram and do the windows and stuff. (Write one sentence here evaluating your work and the place that it is in) . Next time I would make the coloring better because there’s some parts out of the lines, color the instruments too, and also add more stuff to it because there are a lot of parts that are blank. I would try putting it on the tram.
Imagination:
Something that sparks my imagination is what is beneath the ocean, the underwater world, so what if I brought one of those creatures to dry land?
WHYYY?
We had to display an art work on a wall showing the difference perspectives, I drew an octopus reaching out the city like its coming to life off the wall (The Tasha-topus hehe), on some other walls I sketched some bubbles and a few brick walls to make it look more realistic.
Reflection:
I think it looks a bit too shady and dark, you could say that the darkness would make it look more like the dark end of the ocean, but I still think that I might have gone over with the dark pencils and should have a thought of using some bright colors because this is not what sparks my imagination, I am not DARK and scary. Unless...
Things that spark my imagination and curiosity are sparked by weird or unusual objects that you don’t normally see on the street or in the house.
One place I would paint my mural is my own home. The purpose would be to allow myself to enjoy my own mural and to inspire me to do things and motivate my family and I.
Another place I would paint my mural is in a poor and sad area. The purpose would be to inspire happiness into the locals.
In this drawing I have drawn my mural on a wall because I felt that my work goes best on a wall rather than a tram or stairs. People generally don’t notice a mural on stairs and if they do then they quickly forget about it, same with trams. However, if you do it on a wall locals will constantly walk past it and over time they will remember it.
Something that sparks my imagination and curiosity is the football, window and camera. Who is going to pay for the window and who shot the football at the window. And who is on the camera when this happened?
Mural Idea:
So in the start, my idea was to add another person in the mural so we know who kicked the football. There would also be a camera there and the person using the camera would know who kicked the ball. But then, I figured that there won't be much space for the person so then I deleted the person but used the same idea. So now, my mural is some patterns as the background, camera on the bookshelf, and a ball that broke the window.
First Place:
The first place would be a wall beside a football pitch because fans/players coming inside the pitch could see it and they would understand the mural more than people that don't like sports.
Second Place:
I could also put this mural on a tram/bus so people can be introduced to football a bit more (maybe).
Mural location:
The best location for my mural in my opinion is a wall beside a football pitch because that would make the most sense since people play football there. The fans could also think/remember if they broke a window with a football before (I'm pretty sure people still breaks windows with a football).
Evaluation:
I think I could have added a bit more detail to the main mural. I could have also added some more detail with the background. The buildings are also not very colourful so I could have added a bit of colour to the buildings. I also like the location I picked for my mural because it will look more reasonable when people look at it.
Something that sparks my imagination is space and exploration.
You can see this is one of my mural ideas, the word "Explore" and a space background.
One place I would put my mural would be on some building relating to space. I would do this because my mural is related to space.
In my idea, I've drawn my mural on a wall because I just felt like doing so, and I feel like it wouldn't go well on stairs or trams, as it would be cut off.
Something that sparks my imagination could really be anything interesting to me.
You can see this in my mural since the guitar is just something I have at home.
One place I would paint my mural is on the streets, I would paint it their for other people to enjoy it and it might spark their imagination.
Another place where I might want to paint my mural is in a place where they are playing music since this fits the theme of my mural.
In my idea, I have drawn the mural on a wall on the streets because you can show the whole mural, but if you put it on something like a tram, part of it will be covered so you can't really show the public your full mural. Also the tram is moving so if you see it once, you might never see it again but if the drawing is painted on a wall, it will always be there.
Something that sparks my imagination & curiosity is the city skylines and skyscrapers.
You can see this in my mural ideas because this is a cityscape of the HK skyline. I draw them a lot because I am very curious and kind of wonder how they work or get built.
One place I would paint my mural is the wall of a building. The meaning/purpose would be probably that my mural is pretty big, and it won’t fit really on a small wall.
Another place I would paint my mural is on a tram. The meaning/purpose would be probably that I’d like to let people round the city see the beauty of these structures and objects.
In my idea, I’ve drawn my mural on the wall because I think it has the largest amount of space and easy to express my feeling. I also think that people would cross here a lot and think and look at this piece of artwork. I also think it has less distraction, not much windows, not much things blocking the view of the piece of artwork.
V2 AT THE TOP
Something that sparks my imagination is something with different layers of colour, you can see how this has been incorporated into my design because my design has a range of different colors and layers, including the blue sky, green and brown trees, blue sea, and orange sand. One place I would paint this mural on are stairs, this is because I think that stairs would give this drawing more depth, it would also be relevant to the topic of layers. Another place I would put the mural on is a tram, this is because I think it would be a good way to represent the layers of color.
