I think that always putting a big smile on your face is the most important thing to have. The objects that appear in my mural are my grandma’s dried leaves and dried chillies, which in Chinese culture, keep people away from danger and sorrow. My grandma believes that being optimistic is going to bring people good luck and fortune. This is one of the reasons why I am always having a positive attitude. In my mural, there is a friendly-looking granny that represents my grandma, the one who always brings me happiness. As you can see, I have also included the dried leaves and chillies on the right and left sides of the mural. The scattered coins and the two lucky bags on the top represents fortune, which imply that positive attitudes bring us a fortune. I would love to paint this mural on a big car or on a truck. The purpose of creating this public art is to bring other people happiness. When the truck/car drives around, people would have the ability to see it in multiple places. If my mural is not movable, only people in a particular area can see it. More and more people will be cheered. This not only benefits the people themselves who are living in a happier community, where society would be making more improvements. It also does benefit the economy, since people raise their efficiency at work when they are delighted.
Music and jazz matters to me because my family loves it and it makes me feel relax and calm. I listen to jazz on the vinyl on rainy days and it makes me feel better. I love jazz, it is like people talking, people who plays jazz doesn't need a piece of music, they could compose a piece with their head at that moment. I very much appreciate jazz and listening to it on the vinyl.
I drew a vinyl disc player since it is where we listen to music where we listen to jazz and wrote down one of my father's favourite jazz album on the vinyl disc.
I will paint it in the alley between Sai Street and Upper Station Street which is in Sheung Wan.
I wanted to paint it in that alley because I think it is a cool space to draw it in and I thought it will be a good place to add some colour in.
My mural can bring some colour to the alleyway and make it brighter and happier. I think my mural can also bring people to enjoy listening to the vinyl again since very few people listens to music on the iconic vinyl disc player.
Family, memories are things that matter most to me in my life. This camera is important to me because it holds many wonderful childhood memories. I will show this in my mural by drawing it in detail and trying my best to express an idea to the person who looks at the mural. I haven’t been able to choose a location in Hong Kong yet but I think that it would look nice on a wall outside of my home because the building looks a bit old and is just plain beige. It would enhance the community because it could brighten up the neighbourhood and make add some colour to a plain background.
The community and how the surroundings affect it matter a lot to me. This is because I want a nice and steady life, I don't want the community to just black out and take a turn for the worst.
I drew a sun to remind us to shine, fireworks to remind us to keep up our spirits, and I drew the colorful streamers to remind us to just be happy.
I would draw it on a big wall in Central.
I would choose to draw it on a big wall in Central because I want people to be influenced by it, I want people to see the mural and get reminded of all the wonderful things in life.
My mural expresses and shows that we need to stick together and shine through even the toughest of times.
What matters most to you? To bring joy using thing like fruits which are also really important to human life
Why? Because I want to make people happy using things which are important to human life to cheer people up
How will you show that in your mural? I drew a happy and mad pineapple.
Where would you paint it in Hong Kong? Maybe in the back of a shop.
Why you would choose the particular location to paint it?
becuase usually those areas are very boring and have no color.
How it would enhance the community? You could make some peopl feel more happy and laugh when they see the pineapples to make them happier.
What matters most to you? Why?
I think that that this basketball mural is important because basketball is a very fun sport, it also is a sport which I want to do for the rest of my life.
How will you show that in your mural?
I drew a person (me in the future) playing basketball where I am in a very intense basketball game, trying to win the game.
Where would you paint it in Hong Kong?
I would paint it near a place where there usually have a lot of mural and street arts, which represents their life too.
Why you would choose the particular location to paint it?
because people can look at it publicly, and also since the place which I drew is public, people can often see my mural, and hopefully understand my dream easily.
How it would enhance the community?
My mural can bring a lot of good vibes of basketball, and also convince other people to do what I want to do in the future.
my family matters most to me and this mural design can represent them because they always tell me to count sheep when I can't sleep. I would paint it on a blank wall near or in the city because most of the people work there and maybe this mural can comfort them? It can maybe enhance the community because it might remind people of their parents and childhood.
As a kid, I love to read books about space, because I thought it was very interesting. The piglet on the mural is a stuffed toy I liked. I showed the items above in my mural, because the theme is a piglet surfing in space, so the mural can reflect things that I like. I would paint it at the wall in front of Fortress Hill (MTR station). Currently, the wall full of paint, covering the papers that were posted last year. Right now the wall looks very ugly, so the mural will make the wall more aesthetically pleasing. This will enhance the community by bringing colours into the community.
Family, nature, and happiness are the things that matter the most to me. Family, because they are the ones that support you everyday. Nature, since it is very beautiful and precious. Happiness, because if you are not happy, life will just be very dull and normal. I will show that in my mural by drawing leaves. The size of leaves represent family, and the colours represent happiness. I would paint it in a zoo since families go there, and people should be happy when they are there. It would enhance the community because people would care about family, and nature more. They will hopefully be happier when they see the mural.
This mural represents the painting that my relative drew for me when I was born. This is valuable and means a lot to me because it represents the day that I was born. I will show this in my mural because I included the day that I was born in the mural. If it was me, I would paint this on a wall in my house, and I would not choose to paint this in a place where there are a lot of people. I will choose this place for my mural because I don't want people to know about these personal information, even though it is just my birthday. I don't want lots of people looking at it because I think it would be weird to. This mural would not enhance the community because it would be in my home.
This mural Represents the society and the protests and the things the public wanted to do.
I showed that by adding some protest subjects and some fun things to do.
In an alley way.
Because it is not that hidden but it is also hidden, and also many people go there.
People can enjoy and look at it and maybe they can also talk about it.
The mural represents the fading of color, in terms of culture, and how we are closely heading towards globalization.
I showed that by using gray(pencil) and a small tint of colors.
To be fully honest, if this design were to go through a few more designs, I would like it to go somewhere on the walls of queens road.
The reason I chose this place is because that there are a-lot of people around in here, and probably will notice the murals.
It would enhance Hong Kong as a reminder that all of us have our identity, and we cannot lose it to globalization.
This is a drawing of my favourite game, that I played the most during this quarantine time, and I really liked it. It is called fortnite: save the world.
In this mural, I've drawn a so called "Homebase", which is my base, and I've drawn rare perk-up(the green one) and re-perk(the grey one).
In like my house.
Why you would choose the particular location to paint it?
Because this is kind of personal and no one in my area plays it.
I think it would make people look at it and start playing the game with me???
This is inspired by a wooden elephant model from Thailand, it is colourful and exquisite, in the Thai culture zodiac I belong to the animal elephant. I respect and find the beliefs from around the world each unique in its way very interesting, as a global citizen I have a global vision and strive to learn more about different cultures.
It matters to me because I like to be creative and imagine the impossible so my mural reflects this with a representation of surrealism with a variety of patterns and tone. I made the mural pop out from the others by shading them with gradient.
I would paint it in Hong Kong as a public art beside the streets on a building.
I choose this particular location to paint it cause of the plane and boring alley which I want to beautify and the blocky building fits the Cube-ish elephant
It would enhance the community by providing more colour which makes the area more live or vivid. It could be where people can enjoy the view of the drawing so that in this vibrant city we can appreciate something peaceful and urge them to stop and think.
The society right now is infected by the Corona Virus, and a lot of people are struggling with the disease daily. It's been affecting lives, jobs, the economy, etc. and making them unbalanced. I wish people who got infected to recover, and that it would eventually go.
The quote "smile under the mask" is from TVB, and it hopes to bring positivity even in tough times. It also includes a person wearing a mask (to hopefully avoid the virus).
I wish to paint it near/in the hospitals, to help and motivate others who are battling for their lives because of this virus.
I hope this mural would bring positivity towards this community, and motivate others who are struggling. But for everyone who's wearing a mask for sanitary reasons to still smile, is my main message.
I always enjoyed listening to the music in the 60s to 80s, and many rock and blues bands. This mural was inspired by the British Invasion bands such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. I really enjoy listening to rock songs and I find it very uplifting and inspiring, which is why i chose to use it as the theme for my mural
I incorporated rock n' roll elements in my mural to show my passion and love for rock music
I would paint it near the hard rock cafe because I think it would associate really well with the cafe as they have the same theme
Because they have common themes and would be most appropriate
It would enhance the community because people would get to know rock music and enjoy it as much as i do (well, hopefully ;D)
I think it is important to keep your childhood memories alive. Even if it's some toys you got from Disneyland, even if it's just some apps on an iPad you used to love. I still keep the iPad to this day because I treasure the memories inside of it.
I drew the screen of the iPad on the wall, with all the apps in the iPad that I loved when I was a child. Then I decided to be a bit creative and added some pictures describing the app games. I included the apps that I remember I loved most.
I would paint it somewhere with a huge empty surface area, on the surface of a huge box-type of structure or maybe a huge wall. It would be somewhere busy, maybe on a street of Causeway-bay.
I chose this location because this mural would allow people to slow down and think of their own childhood memories, what they loved, what they did, just anything that happened during their childhood.
Hong Kong is a very busy city, which is why it would be perfect for the mural. It would allow them to stop rushing and remember how exciting or boring (even if it's boring, it's still a childhood that made them what they are today) their childhood was. It would allow them to rest for a bit but not distract them, and then they would continue on with their days.
What matters most to me is about the planet and how plastic is affecting the ocean and the fish inside of it.
I showed it in my mural with the plastic bottle inside of the fish and eating it from the inside killing it, without it even knowing anything. I added fish guards which represent the protection for the fish inside of its body. In the mural it is dying away because of the water bottle and on to the king fish which is the centre of the fish's health, basically if the plastic gets to it, the fish dies. The background as you can see is a chaotic ocean without anything. This represents the fish's loneliness in fighting this evil and the colourless seaweed and rocks represents how The fish is alone to fight something they have never fought before and how everything feels empty with plastic inside of it.
I would paint this somewhere near the ocean but also it needs to be very busy. So I chose the clock tower near the harbour. It is near the ocean and is a very busy area, a perfect place to spread awareness of the treachery within the society and those who are affected by it. This would enhance the community by spreading awareness and helping create a cleaner, unpolluted and safer environment for the fish and us to live in harmony with.
My family matter most because they are the ones who are always supporting me.This is representing something I received from my great grandma, and its really special to me and my family because my great grandma isn't here anymore, so its something we can remember her by.I can show this by drawing the doll she gave me, as well as a scenery as it was ocean themed.I would paint it in the alley between Sai Street and Upper Station Street which is in Sheung Wan. I chose this location because it has a wide variety of space to work with, and I really like that there are plants hanging above from the wall, and how colorful this place is, which makes it look more special. It would enhance the community because it could make the alley more colorful and it could brighten up the community.
The society matters to me because it affects me and everyone else on the planet.
I showed that in my mural by painting two different wings, one good and one bad surrounding the earth. This shows that there are different types of people on the planet.
I would paint this on a wall in Central.
I would paint this in Central because it is a very busy area in Hong Kong and a lot of people walk by, this can remind them to be good people.
This would enhance the community by reminding them to be good people.
What matters most to you? Why?
How will you show that in your mural?
Where would you paint it in Hong Kong?
Why you would choose the particular location to paint it?
How it would enhance the community?

The current pandemic has affected millions and killed thousands, and I really wanted to express my feeling towards this and
