This mural matters to me because I like chess, but I also want to emphasize the ever-present racism element which I think it is important to go away. Racism is morally wrong; everyone is equal.
I have shown it by drawing a chessboard and 2 chess pieces, 1 white king and 1 black king. The black king is falling down, much like the way lots of people still think White>Black which is symbolized in this image.
It wouldn't really make a difference where I paint it, but I would probably not paint it outside a chess club as doing so would emphasize the element of chess more than the racism element.
This mural will remind the community of the ever-present element of racism, but also to have fun and play some chess.
This is my drawing of an object that I value: My mother of pearl necklace. This mother of pearl necklace is important to me because I have had it since I was four. My father was the one who chose this necklace, and I wear it to special occasions. On my mural, I drew my necklace and a larger clover pearl pendant around it, and I drew a man (my father) giving a mother of pearl necklace to a girl (me). I colored the background as black to make the main part stand out more. I colored the larger pendant in rainbow colors because I wish to remind people to cherish all the good things in life, whether big or small, not only because of its price but also because of what it really means to you and the story behind it. I would choose to paint this mural on the wall of a jewelry shop, because the main object in my mural is a mother of pearl necklace which is a piece of jewelry. This would also remind people that jewelry should not only be cherished because of its price but also because of what it really means to you and the story behind it. This would enhance the community because people will learn to cherish things and find the deeper meaning of an object behind its price, so not so much objects will be thrown away which will be better for the environment.
This is a glass bottle I got from Maldives . I think it is special to me because it reminds me of my favorite vacation, which was at Maldives. It used to have sand from the beach in it, but now it doesn’t. It also helps me reduce stress, because it reminds me of good times when I am stressed. I will paint this in a MTR station, because when people go home from work on the MTR, they are really tired and stressed. Then they see this, and hopefully it can remind them of a vacation they loved, like mine in Maldives, where I got this bottle. Then they won’t feel as worn out, and lift people’s spirits up.
This is a drawing of my final mural and the thing I value the most: my first gold medal. This not only represents my first gold medal, which makes me happy thinking about it and makes me feel proud of myself. It also tells people to not compare themselves with others, they are always the number one of themselves. I would paint it on a blank wall of a large building, just so people can walk past it, be reminded and feel better if they were sad that day.
The thing that matters to me most is that I enjoy my life. I see no point of living on the earth if your life doesn't have a purpose.
I really enjoy travelling around the world. I would like to travel to Egypt and see the Pyramids one day.
I would paint this on a wall where everyone can see it. Preferably on a wall in the Central MTR Station.
I would paint this on a wall in the Central MTR Station because it is a place where a lot of people pass by everyday and I want people to see the piece of artwork. Also, the walls in Central MTR Station are quite bland, so this mural will definitely enhance the community there.
This mural matters to me because I love basketball.
I have drawn many basketballs in my mural to show my passion and love for basketball.
I would paint it next to basketball courts.
I would paint it there because it matches the theme to play basketball. For example, when someone is discouraged in playing basketball, they can just look at my art so it will inspire them to "never give up".
It would enhance the community by following their passions before it is too late, and it can encourage them to start playing basketball (or other sports).
What matters most to you? Why?
One of the things I care the most is my violin. I also care about reading and sleeping. That is because these things keep me entertained and healthy.
How will you show that in your mural?
I drew that people that are in quarantine stays at home doing this kind of things.
Where would you paint it in Hong Kong?
I would paint it at somewhere with a lot of buildings. Maybe at Tsim Sha Tsui where there is a lot of buildings.
Why you would choose the particular location to paint it?
Because many people could see it and get what I want to say.
How it would enhance the community?
It will let people know what they could do to feel good in their houses and do it to also keep coronavirus away.
This is a drawing of 1of the objects I value most: This cup.
The cup repesents hydration as I don't really drink water. So this cup to remind everyone including me to be hydrated.
I would paint this in Disney land.
I would paint this in Disney land, as all the kids just happly runing around eatting all the sweets but not really drinking water, so its there to remind the "drink your water".
This will help as people are reminded of drinking water and not just drinking orange juice and others.
One thing that matters to me a lot is the earth being healthy and clean because the less pollution the longer the world will live and the more grandchild I will have.
I my mural it shows the tree of like and It being healthy and and surviving
Near a big healthy tree
To show how healthy the tree is
To show how we have such a big healthy tree and show how we can make more strong healthy trees. 🌳 ?
I chose this mural on Marine life to raise awareness to any people that pass by that wall to care for Marine Life because the water pollution is getting more and more serious currently. This painting would be painted in the walls of a aquarium because it can showcase the theme, and also raise awareness to the people that go to the aquarium about the endangered marine animals.
I drew butterflies for my mural because butterflies are super pretty and i like them very much, i really value them because some butterflies are already going extinct and we need to protect them so the mural is to value about butterflies and their extinction, i would paint it by a park so when the butterflies go there people would know not to harm them and to let them live their lives. This will teach the community to not harm the butterflies and let them do their thing so they will not be extinct anymore.
Family is what matters to me the most because they are what makes your "home", home basically. This mural was also inspired by a photograph I have of my family, and it holds a lot of emotional value to me.
I drew a mural showing a family, but they fell apart because of one's death (See the red cross).
I would paint it on an apartment building.
I would paint it here because people live there, it's their home. They will be reminded that they have family.
The community will realise how precious having a family is and that they should cherish their time with them. Then the community will start appreciating the time they have.
The thing that matters to me most is learning and gaming/playing and the balance between them. That is because I went to school to learn knowledge so I can be successful in the future and I really enjoy gaming when I am stressed so I can relax. I showed this in my mural because I had a game controller and a book, which are good representations for learning and playing games. I will paint this on a wall next to or in a school. I want to paint this mural on a wall next to a school because that is where we learn, so the message of this mural will be best expressed there. People say “Work hard, play hard.” This will enhance the community because it will remind people of this phrase, because we learn and work at school, so we should be focused and work hard, but they should also remember to relax, have fun and play when they are not working so they can have a balanced life.
This is my own mural of the ocean. I decided that I wanted to do a simple mural like Peter Onionman, so I did not use much tone on this mural.
This mural is a reflection of what matters most to me, which is the sea. I show that in my mural by illustrating the ‘wonders of the ocean’, which for me are whales, octopuses and seashells. I hope that after looking at my mural people will also understand the ocean better and like the ocean like I do. I would paint this on a old wall next to the beach so this will fit the theme of ocean and people would see it every time they are near the ocean and remember how wonderful the ocean is. This mural will help people think about the environment more often and that could enhance the community.
The thing that matters to me most is the item/object that her final mural was inspired about. The object was a printout of a Shawn Mendes album, and he is my favourite singer. I think showed it pretty clearly and took my own twist with it. My personal opinion is that I think it could be painted it anywhere. It is a very beautiful piece of work. Likewise, they chose to paint in anywhere. It would give some colour to the grey walls and really be an interesting sight if you were taking a stroll.
The thing that matters most to me is looking back at memories and reflect on what characteristics I have developed through the years. In my mural, I decided to transform a building into a yearbook. I have shown that I value this because I have written different years to showcase a flow of years, and tried to make it look as much like a book as possible. I would paint this at the Sun Yat-sen memorial park, as this location has the same meaning as what my mural intends to convey: memories. This will enhance the community because it shows that growth and remembering is vital and should not be lacked.
I love collecting these little 葫蘆 as something I fidget with when I'm nervous or stress. It is very important to me, since to me it represents time and patience. The redder a 葫蘆 is, the more valuable it is, but to let it have the best coloring and sheen, you will need to keep it for a long time, and polish it constantly, which takes a lot of patience and care. I recently realised people who collect them are usually elderlies who have nothing to do, and it is kind of odd for me to do the same. So I thought, why not put a creative and modern twist to it? That is why I created this this mural design. I will paint this on a simple building since that will fit best with my colorful design inspired by the flow of water (represents time). I will paint this on a building I pass by on the way to school every single morning, because, this mural will most definitely enhance the bland buildings and community there, and more people who drive pass that street like me will be able to
Paper planes/planes matter most to me because I liked the way it moves in a unique way .and when I was a kid he didn’t have much friends so I played more with paper airplanes.i showed it by using different angles to show how how unique paper airplanes fly. I would paint it at some schools and maybe some hospitals.I chose these places because I want to encourage kids to fold and fly paper airplanes, and to pursue their dreams.like a plane at the starting line going up to achieve their dreams and trying to let children work hard and have fun, sometimes it will go through some obstacles, but at the end you will reach the finish line( achieved)
What matters to me is my games, I always play games with my sisters and family, sometimes with friends online, I used to not really like school but then I’m fine with school now, because my parents always tell me that if I finish my work, I get to play. I showed that in my mural by drawing a Nintendo switch. I would paint my mural outside of some schools. I would choose to paint it outside of a school to remind people that if you work hard you get to play hard, don't give up on learning even if you want to.
