Team Travel

Travel Party Responsibility

All travel party members are expected to adhere to the transportation and safety regulations of the Farmington Area Public Schools and the company providing the mode of transportation.

Mode of Transportation

For away contests, school bus transportation will be fully funded by the Farmington Area Public Schools.

Charter buses will only be ordered by the District for special events or long-distance travel approved by the Activities Director. The district will cover the cost of a school bus for the trip. Sport/activity booster clubs/associations will be responsible for paying any additional costs beyond the cost of a school bus for these trips. Coaches are not to make charter bus arrangements without prior consent from the Activities Office.

Extended Trips

Teams or groups that participate in extended and/or overnight trips need to get prior approval from the Activities Director.  School Board approval is also necessary for these trips. Extended trips involve one or more overnight stops.

As of 2020, the Farmington Area Public Schools no longer sponsor team travel unaffiliated with the normal travel requirements of the official team schedule.

Extended Trips Booking Process.

Boosters that fund extended trips that require an overnight stay, must initiate and organize travel in collaboration with the Activities Office.

Team Bonding Trips (In-season only)

Teams are permitted one team-bonding/team-building event while in-season. The Activities Office should book and pay for all travel expenses including, but not limited to, transportation, and registration fees. Booster Clubs should provide a donation to the School District for expenses associated with the team trip.

The head coach should communicate with the Activities Office regarding any team-building/team-bonding trips.

State Send-offs

State “Send-offs” will occur when a TEAM qualifies for a MSHSL State Tournament. When individuals qualify, state send-offs should be run by the program and should not involve the Farmington Police Department, Farmington Fire Department, or Farmington Bands.

Boosters should not organize a state send-off involving the FPD, FFD, Tiger Bands, etc. on their own.
