Captain's Practices and Open Gyms

Participation in captain's practice is governed by the MSHSL.

Captain's Practice is primarily for the purpose of physical conditioning and is conducted by the students. Students may participate in Captain's Practice provided that salaried or non-salaried school personnel are not involved in any capacity. It is the responsibility of school officials to become aware of the preseason activities in their school district and to insure that the spirit and intent of the League rules are observed.

Captain's practices are not, and cannot be, sponsored by the Farmington Area School District.

To book a captain's practice in a Farmington Area Public Schools facility, the team captains can book the facility through Sue Hurtgen at Farmington High School. To book captain's practices at an off-site facility, boosters can make the arrangements and provide the necessary documentation, insurance, and fees associated with the rental.

A sport's head coach may book open gyms, or open gym type of opportunities, at Farmington Area Public School facilities through Sue Hurtgen at Farmington High School.

Per MSHSL bylaw 208, open gym refers to the use of school facilities for recreational activities. Students may participate in open gym if all of the following conditions are met:
