Any parents and students visiting the school after regular school hours (8:00am – 4:30pm) are asked to respect school rules and guidelines. The school facilities can be accessed outside of regular school hours following the procedure on the ISB website under the ‘Campus Life’ tab and by clicking the Booking Facilities LINK.
There is supervision for students from 7:50am. Students may not be dropped off alone before 7:50am, however you are welcome to stay with your child if you arrive early.
The school day officially starts at 8:10am. Students arriving after 8:15am will be considered late and must check in with the Primary School Receptionist.
Classes finish at 3:00pm and Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) take place from 3:15pm to 4:15pm. Students from PreK may be collected from their classrooms. All other students will be supervised on the Red Top until they are collected. Students who are not collected by 3:15pm will wait in the Primary School Reception area.

The Primary School drop-off and pick-up procedures are very important to ensure the safety of all ISB students and to prevent traffic congestion. Parking is extremely limited so please adhere to these guidelines.
Parents who would like to park and accompany their child to class or the playground must park in the three lanes furthest from the road.
The fourth lane is for a shortstop of less than 10 minutes.
No vehicle is to be left unattended in the lane nearest the road. This is for drive through and quick drop off only.
The speed limit in the Primary School car park is 20 km/h.
Kindergarten to Grade 2 students will be dropped off at the playground near Main Villa steps. Children exit on the playground-side of the vehicle and enter the playground.
Grade 3 to Grade 5 students may be dropped off at the entrance of the basketball court area. These students will exit on the side nearest the Red Top.
The school staff will assist your child with exiting the vehicle and will ensure they are directed to the playground safely.
Please do not stop your car and let your child/ren out before the “drop-off” points. This is dangerous and will also block the flow of traffic.
On rainy or snowy days, students may go directly to their classroom.
Students who use the bus service are dismissed at 2:55pm. These students go directly to the bus monitor at a designated area who will check attendance and accompany them to the bus.
At 3pm, PreK students are collected from their classroom. All other students will be released and go to the Red Top where they will be supervised until they are collected by a parent or guardian. Students enrolled in CCAs go directly to the playground near the Art room. An adult will accompany younger students to the meeting area.
Students who are not collected by 3:15pm will be taken to the Primary School Office.
Parents going through the “drive-through” lane will stop at the entrance to the basketball court area. An ISB staff member will be present to assist students with safely entering the vehicles.
Students may only play on the K-2 playground once they are collected by their parents from the basketball court area. There will be no teacher supervision provided in this area after school.
Students are NOT permitted to walk through the parking lot to meet parents/drivers. Parents/drivers must pick students up at the basketball court.
In the event of rain, pick up procedures are as follows:
Walkers – leave immediately.
Bus Riders – leave immediately to board the bus.
After School Activities – leave immediately and go directly to the MPR.
All other students may wait on Main Villa steps for pick-up from parents.

Students are allowed to walk home with written permission from parents. Students will not be allowed to walk home without written consent from a parent.
Primary School students are welcome to travel to and from school on bicycles, skateboards or scooters, on the condition that they wear a helmet. Bicycles, skateboards and scooters may be parked in the bike racks near the Art room.

The Secondary School drop-off and pick-up procedures are very important to ensure the safety of all ISB students and to prevent traffic congestion. Parents or designated personnel who drop-off and pick-up students are advised that there is only a single lane for such actions. It is therefore critical that drop-offs and pick-ups occur in a timely manner to ensure minimal disruption to the traffic flow. If your child is delayed, parents or designated personnel are encouraged to use the parking spaces. Parents and designated personnel are required to adhere to indicated speed limits of 20 km/h.
Each bus has a bus monitor who is responsible for maintaining order. Students are expected to remain seated at all times. Any difficulties with children whilst they are on the bus are reported to the Principal. Students should:
• Be on time and enter the bus in an orderly manner;
• Remain seated at all times;
• Avoid behavior that is inconsiderate to others;
• Avoid placing any part of the body outside of the window;
• Not bring friends on the bus who are not regular commuters;
• Keep aisles clear;
• Wear seat belts at all times.
Students who are unable to adhere to behavioral expectations:
• 1st offense: Discussion between student and bus monitor.
• 2nd offense: Bus monitor will issue a behavior ticket to the student, with a copy to the Principal for action.
• 3rd offense: Principal will meet with the bus monitor, parents, and student for possible disciplinary action or exclusion from riding the school bus.
Traffic conditions can sometimes cause delay, and parents are asked to be patient before contacting the bus coordinator.
Important: If a transportation change needs to be made during the school day, parents are required to call the Transportation Coordinator at +381 11 206-9907 before 12:00pm. This communication will ensure that the bus departs at its assigned time allowing students to arrive home as per normal. If there is no note or phone call, it will be assumed that the child is taking the indicated bus as per normal. If the child misses the bus, it is the parents’ responsibility to collect their child. For further information in reference to transportation please go to http://www.isb.rs/main/?pgid=59.
Families are asked to register the number plate of their vehicles at the guard gate so that they can be recognised by our security system and easily allowed onto the campus. If for some reason the school needs to be closed, official notice will be issued from the Director’s Office. The decision to close school is made by the Director in consultation with the Chair of the Board of Directors.
Procedure:
The Director will notify the teaching faculty.
An SMS message will be sent to all parents.
It should be assumed that school will resume the following day.
The SMS messaging system will be initiated for each consecutive day that school is cancelled.
Inclement Weather Policy: Every winter we have a few days of heavy snows and/or cold temperatures. On days such as these, the administration contemplates the following factors in the decision-making process of whether to hold school or cancel classes.
Current road conditions in Belgrade,
Accessibility to and from Primary and Secondary campuses,
Safety of ISB community members when going outside in cold temperatures and potential icy conditions,
Outside temperature,
Consultation with other local independent/international schools,
Possible consultation with Embassies,
Instructions from the Serbian government,
Operation of Belgrade public transportation, and
Operation of school bus transportation.
The decision passes through multiple filters of consideration. Moreover, the school’s Director communicates with the Chairperson of the ISB Board of Trustees prior to any decision related to school opening/closure. The school will communicate any decisions in the following manner:
The initial SMS notification to the community will be made no later than 6:15am on the morning of school. Available information about potential delays in school transportation will occur at 6:15am. as well. Further transportation updates will be provided periodically to affected families throughout the morning period,
The administration will also consider an early dismissal during periods of inclement weather, and/or cancel after school activities as well. This will be communicated through SMS and email in a timely manner.
Classroom Visitor Permission
Sometimes we have requests for students outside ISB to visit the school. This might be family members who are visiting on holiday or returning students. In these situations, we welcome children for a half day at the discretion of the Principal. Application must be in writing, explaining the relationship of the visitor to ISB and also which grade level the child would like to participate in. Visitors may not go on field trips or attend After School Activities.

Pets
For the safety of all our community and in respect of cultural consideration, pets are not allowed on our ISB campuses.

In an effort to minimize distractions during the school day, students are asked not to bring toys from home with them to school. Hand held electronic devices, tablets and electronic games are not allowed and should not be brought to school.
Birthday Party Invitations
As a courtesy to our families, we are happy to distribute invitations to birthday parties provided that all students in the class are invited to attend. To prevent hurt feelings, we are not able to distribute invitations to only some of the students in a class. Please use discretion when distributing private party invitations.
Promotion and Retention
The criteria for promotion/retention include age, achievement, social adjustment, availability of alternative programs, and teacher recommendations. Parents will be consulted no later than 45 school days before the end of the school year in cases where retention is being considered. The decision regarding promotion/retention is the responsibility of the Principal.
Withdrawal from School
To request withdrawal from school, parents need to contact the Admissions Officer in writing. The Admissions Officer will arrange a checkout procedure for the student. If tuition and/or fines have not been paid, school records will not be released. Parents are asked to allow the school five business days’ notice in order to prepare report cards and records.

purposes) or wait outside at a picnic table for their ISB host to socialize during a recognized break time.
All students have the option of having a locker. Students are responsible for their lockers, including keeping their lockers locked at all times and not sharing locker combinations. Students that have lockers with keys need to keep the key in a safe place to avoid having to pay the replacement charge for lost keys. Students are also responsible for maintaining their lockers in good order and clearing them regularly, so that they are in a good state and ready for re-allocation for the next academic year. ISB reserves the right to inspect a locker at any time.
Lost and found materials are located above the Secondary School office in the passageway connecting the Middle and High School buildings (the Passerella space). If found material is not collected by the end of each academic quarter, items will be donated to charity.
