Child Protection

Our Approach

If you have a child protection concern, contact one of the school's designated child protection coordinators, all of whom are trained and meet regularly to discuss child wellbeing concerns.  Students may want to talk to another trusted adult such as a classroom teacher or advisor.  Middle and high school students may want to refer to this self care plan for helpful resources. Our social emotional counsellor Valerie DeGraw, is also available to discuss a care plan with students if needed.

For child protection issues, ISA follows the advice of the Scottish government summarised as GIRFEC - Get it Right for Every Child and our child protection board policy. Within school we  use a multi-tiered system of support to guide specific responses.

All staff receive regular training and are aware of their child protection responsibilities  and trained in details regarding guidelines about how to raise a concern, physical contact, being alone with a student, social media and school tripsStaff also understand how data protection affects them.

Parents should be aware of what Scottish law says on childcare and babysitting as well as use of physical punishment.
