Ozobots are small robots that pack a ton of fun. They're fun to play with, but you learn a bunch, too.
The first thing you are going to do is get some paper and put your initial on it (the first letter of your name on it). Use are going to use the wide part of the marker. The line should be at least 5 mm wide. You can use any color you like (yellow might not work so well; try it - this is a science class).
Turn on the robot by pressing the switch on the left. Then, put it on the line you made for your initial. It should follow the initial letter of your name. If it doesn't follow the line, you need to calibrate the Ozobots. To calibrate the Ozobot, make a black circle about the size of a quarter (about 2.5 cm or 1 in in diameter) on the paper. Hold the on button on the Ozobot until it flashes. Then put it on the black circle. When it stops flashing, it is calibrated.
Make some observations and inferences and write about them in your notebook:
1) How does the Ozobot get around?
2) What things affect the it moves?
3) What happens if you follow the Ozobot with a pen or a pencil?
4) What happens if you put a pen or pencil in front of it?
